Your Role and Responsibilities:

Xanadu is an industry leader in the burgeoning area of quantum software. As a Senior Full-Stack Web Developer, you will lead the development and maintenance of our PennyLane and Xanadu web properties. The goal of PennyLane is to provide researchers in the quantum computing space with a set of tools and algorithms for research and development against quantum hardware devices and simulators. You will:

  • Develop, maintain, and expand pennylane.ai and other web applications using the latest web technologies. (React, Next.js, GraphQL, Python, PostgreSQL)
  • Design, build and maintain pipelines to enable Xanadu’s technical writers and developers to deploy educational and technical content to our sites
  • Design, build, and maintain a solid set of APIs for consumption by internal and external services and web front ends
  • Take ownership of the architectural design, implementation, and performance of these web interfaces across mobile and desktop devices
  • Work with a cross-functional team to drive forward the product roadmap and build great experiences for our users
  • Mentor junior developers, lead technical projects, and help define the technical direction of our products
  • Ensure high-quality production code by maintaining automated test coverage and a dynamic code review process
  • Perform DevOps tasks, such as building and maintaining our CI/CD pipeline using GitHub Actions

Basic qualifications and experience:

  • BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Proficient in modern development languages and web technologies (Python, JavaScript, Typescript, and React or similar)
  • Proficient with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar)
  • Experience with Gatsby, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS
  • Experience using git/GitHub, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Turbo (or similar)
  • Experience using Docker and deploying to cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud (or similar)
  • Product-minded approach to software development
  • Independent problem-solver driven to deliver high-quality solutions to our users
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while making and taking ownership of difficult technical decisions
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Experience with GraphQL
  • Experience in Test Driven Development (TDD) methodologies, unit and integration testing
  • Experience with OIDC and OAuth2.0
  • Experience with Internationalization and web accessibility
  • Experience contributing to product strategy
  • Experience leading a small to medium size team of developers (2-5)
