Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented below is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

We’re looking for a Senior Government Relations Advisor to join our team for 12 months!
As a Senior Government Relations Advisor, you will play an important role in the development and execution of Intact Financial Corporation’s (IFC) government relations strategy. This includes working with stakeholders across the organization to maintain and enhance IFC’s profile, reputation and influence with all levels of government in Canada and in some cases, regulatory bodies, non-governmental organizations, and trade associations. Working in a large organization, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with key areas of the business such as legal, climate, social impact/ESG, communications, risk, and more to ensure alignment on issues that impact IFC across all markets.
What you’ll do here:
Execute government relations strategies that are aligned with IFC’s business objectives.
Manage IFC’s government relations and advocacy efforts in Ontario and other provinces.
Identify, analyze, and monitor relevant public policy and political issues and initiatives that impact key markets. Advise senior leaders and business units.
Oversee and contribute to the development of a range of strategic communications products (i.e., speaking notes, briefing materials, presentations, etc.) working in conjunction with team members and relevant business units
Foster and maintain relationships with key government decision makers, policymakers and advisors as well as with non-governmental organizations, trade associations and other stakeholder groups
Ensure IFC lobbying registries are kept up to date and accurate
Contribute to a team of four, including supporting in jurisdictions in which you are not the lead.
What you’ll bring to the table:
Minimum 5 years of experience working in a provincial or federal government (in political or public service offices) and/or private sector government relations/public affairs (in-house, consulting, or association) is required
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required.
Post secondary education required. Education in political science, the humanities, commerce, accounting, finance or related fields are an asset.
Experience with issues affecting the financial services/insurance industry is an asset.
Highly organized and able to manage workflow efficiently with autonomy and flexibility and without continuous supervision.
Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and expectations simultaneously.
Strong writing ability.
High degree of professionalism and ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
Team player with a positive attitude.
For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
For candidates located outside of Quebec, English proficiency is required. French language skills are not required; however, they will be considered an asset.
