Job Title: Senior Manager, Development - Consumer Growth
Locations: Leeds, Edinburgh, Manchester, Halifax, Birmingham, Newport, Glasgow
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Working Pattern: Hybrid, 40% (or two days per week) in one of our office hubs mentioned above

About the Role

As a Senior Manager in Development within the Consumer Growth division, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering strategic capability initiatives that drive performance, engagement, and transformation across our customer-facing teams. You’ll lead a team of development professionals, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and influence the future of how we support colleagues in delivering exceptional customer outcomes.

This is a high-impact leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives on ambiguity and complexity, embraces change, and brings energy to cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Development Leadership: Design and deliver development frameworks that align with Consumer Growth’s strategic priorities, including capability uplift, coaching excellence, and cultural transformation.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with senior leaders across Consumer Relationships, Engagement, and Performance to embed development solutions that support business goals.

  • Team Management: Lead and inspire a team of Development Managers and Coaches, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

  • Programme Delivery: Oversee the rollout of development programmes, including onboarding, role-specific learning, and leadership pathways.

  • Insight & Evaluation: Use data and feedback to evaluate programme effectiveness, identify trends, and refine development strategies.

  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure all development activity meets internal standards and regulatory requirements, with robust risk controls in place.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience leading development or capability teams within a large, customer-focused organisation.

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to design development frameworks that align with business priorities and drive measurable impact.

  • Influencing & Stakeholder Management: Skilled at shaping decisions and driving collaboration across senior leaders and cross-functional teams.

  • Innovation & Change Leadership: Track record of introducing new ideas, operationalising propositions, and leading transformation.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Competence in using insights and feedback to inform strategies and measure effectiveness.

  • Leadership & Coaching: Experience in building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of growth and continuous improvement.

Desirable

  • Commercial Acumen: Understanding of financial services, customer journeys, and distribution effectiveness.

  • Agility & Resilience: Comfortable with ambiguity, able to pivot quickly, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
