About Brim

Brim Financial is a category defining fintech, building the operating system for credit cards and payments. Our platform powers card programs for banks, credit unions, fintechs, and global brands across North America. We are a fast-growing company. We are backed by EDC Growth Equity, Epic Ventures, Vistara Growth, and Impression Ventures and have been recognized as a CB Insights Fintech 100 company and Deloitte Fast 50 and Deloitte Fast 500 winners.

The Senior Mobile Developer will build a brand-new cross-platform (iOS and Android) app for Brim from the ground up. You will be the first and primary mobile engineer, owning it from architecture and first commit through launch, and then through ongoing maintenance and improvement. Working with Product, Design, and our platform engineering teams, you will make technical decisions that shape how the app looks, performs, and scales.

This role is ideal for an engineer who loves zero-to-one work, is comfortable making decisions independently, and wants to see their work in customers' hands quickly.

Who You Are
  • A builder who has taken a mobile app from idea to production and wants to do it again.

  • Self-directed and comfortable being the sole engineer on a product, while knowing when to ask for input and bring others in.

  • Pragmatic: you balance speed with quality and know when to ship and when to polish.

  • A clear communicator who can explain technical trade-offs to non-technical teammates.

  • Curious about AI tools and eager to use them to move faster and build better.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and build Brim's new mobile app from scratch, owning architecture, implementation, testing, and release.

  • Choose and set up the app's tech stack, project structure, CI/CD pipeline, and coding standards.

  • Partner with Product and Design to turn requirements and mockups into polished, intuitive user experiences.

  • Integrate with Brim's APIs and backend services, working with platform engineers where changes are needed.

  • Build with security, privacy, and reliability in mind, given the financial services context.

  • Manage the app store submission and release process for both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

  • After launch, monitor performance and stability, fix bugs, and ship regular improvements based on user feedback and data.

  • Document the codebase and key decisions so the app can be handed off or scaled to a larger team as it grows.

What You’ll Bring
  • 5+ years of professional experience building and shipping mobile applications, including 3+ years with a cross-platform framework.

  • Strong proficiency in React Native, with working knowledge of native iOS and Android (Swift/Kotlin) for platform-specific features.

  • Experience launching at least one app to the App Store and/or Google Play and managing the release process.

  • Experience integrating with REST APIs and working with authentication, state management, and local data storage.

  • Solid understanding of mobile UI/UX best practices, performance optimization, and accessibility.

  • Experience with automated testing and CI/CD for mobile.

  • Strong ownership mindset and the ability to prioritize and deliver with limited oversight.

Bonus if You Have
  • Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or other regulated industries.

  • Familiarity with mobile security practices (secure storage, biometrics, certificate pinning, etc.).

  • Experience with digital wallets, push provisioning, or card management features.

  • Experience being the first or only engineer on a product.

  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools in your daily workflow.

What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation and equity.

  • Remote-first workplace (Eastern Time).

  • Comprehensive health plan and PTO.

  • A team that treats AI as a force multiplier, not a threat.

  • Real ownership - you'll shape the processes and standards that drive how we deliver customer value.

Other Information
  • Remote (Canada ET).

  • Compensation: CA $125,000 to CA$155,000.

  • Base salary range: For this role, candidates can expect a base salary range, described in the posting. Actual compensation is determined based on skills, experience, and role level. Exceptional candidates may be considered above the top of the range, and pay increases for those who make a big impact in the role.

  • Vacancy status: Not a backfill.

At Brim Financial, we view AI as a force multiplier in all that we do, including recruiting. In that spirit, we may use AI-enabled tools during the application screening process to assist with the review of candidate qualifications. Our recruitment process is human-led, and all hiring decisions are made by qualified members of the Brim Financial team.
