About the role 

The mission of our People Partner is to support global initiatives, remote-first talent management initiatives of Fortis. You are an expert in Canadian and US policies offering guidance and support to the wider People Team. You have experience as a strategic people team business partner and a proven record of working for a global company. You understand how to be successful in a remote-first company and thrive in creating great workplaces globally. 

What you’ll achieve 

  • Contribute to the execution of people-related initiatives that align with the Fortis’ goals. Collaborate with People Partners to deliver HR solutions that meet business needs.
  • Work closely with managers in G&A to understand their needs and help scale the talent management team in a remote-first, global environment.
  • Provide administrative support for global mobility processes and help organize knowledge-sharing sessions on relevant topics.
  • Collaborating with other People Partners with tasks related to Employee Relations, HR policies, talent planning, performance management, and project related tasks. Offer basic coaching and guidance under supervision.
  • Help promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in day-to-day activities and interactions, ensuring alignment with company values

What you’ll need to be successful 

  • 5+ years working in People (HR) with at least 2+ years in a People Partner (HRBP) role
  • Adaptive and experienced change partner who can proactively support initiatives across geographies, effectively implementing a strategy for localization
  • Proven advisor to stakeholders on performance and compensation cycles and demonstrate expertise in Talent Management to include people strategies and enforcing global standards. 
  • Experience in supporting employee relations issues globally and able to guide stakeholders through conflict resolution.
  • Effectively collaborates cross-functionally and builds and maintains strong stakeholder support.
  • Experience with offboarding process at a global scale
  • Fluency in English
