Typical Roles & Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure to support high-scale applications

  • Develop internal developer platforms to streamline CI/CD, observability, and deployment processes

  • Architect and optimize Kubernetes-based environments for efficiency and reliability

  • Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions for scalable and repeatable deployments

  • Improve system observability, monitoring, and alerting for proactive incident detection and resolution

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure scalability, security, and operational excellence

  • Establish best practices for site reliability, cost efficiency, and performance optimization

  • Automate cloud operations, disaster recovery, and security policies

Common Qualifications

While each startup has its own hiring criteria, many senior platform engineering roles in our network look for:

  • 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure

  • Strong proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation) and configuration management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet)

  • Proficiency in CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Spinnaker)

  • Knowledge of distributed systems architecture, networking, and service mesh technologies (Envoy, Istio, Linkerd)

  • Expertise in observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, OpenTelemetry)

  • Experience with automated scaling, failover, and disaster recovery strategies

  • Strong programming/scripting skills in Python, Go, Bash, or TypeScript for automation and tooling

  • Experience implementing zero-trust security models, IAM policies, and cloud security best practices

  • Familiarity with cost optimization strategies for cloud infrastructure

  • Experience in early-stage startups or fast-moving engineering teams is a plus
