Lead the design, development, optimization, and governance of enterprise Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions. Build dimensional data models, advanced DAX calculations, and efficient refresh strategies. Integrate Power BI with Azure data platforms, manage workspaces, security roles, and deployments, and ensure data accuracy. Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable insights while mentoring junior developers and supporting enterprise BI best practices.
We are seeking a Senior Power BI Developer to join our Enterprise Business Intelligence team on a six-month contract with the possibility of an extension.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Onsite Days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
You will lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced Power BI dashboards and enterprise reporting solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data modelling, DAX, performance optimization, and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into meaningful insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop interactive, visually compelling Power BI dashboards and reports for executive and operational stakeholders.
- Build and optimize robust data models using best practices (star schema, dimensional modeling).
- Develop advanced DAX measures and calculations to support complex analytical requirements.
- Optimize Power BI performance, including data refresh strategies, query tuning, and model efficiency.
- Collaborate with business teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable reporting solutions.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and governance across reporting layers.
- Integrate Power BI with Azure data sources including Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory.
- Support deployment, workspace management, security roles (RLS), and Power BI Service administration.
- Provide guidance and best practices to junior developers and analysts.
Required Experience & Skills
- 7+ years of experience in BI and analytics, with strong hands-on expertise in Power BI.
- Advanced proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling.
- Strong experience working with Microsoft Azure data platforms (Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory).
- Solid understanding of SQL and database concepts.
- Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) and managing Power BI Service environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and business stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in enterprise-scale environments with large datasets.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and deployment pipelines for Power BI.
- Knowledge of data governance and BI best practices.
- Experience mentoring or leading BI initiatives is an asset.
