As a Senior Product Specialist – Government & defense, you will support the Director of Government Products and Customer Solutions in defining, developing, and delivering products and solutions for government and defense markets. You will work closely with engineering, IT, business development, and sales teams to ensure offerings meet customer needs, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.

Your work will include gathering customer insights, defining product requirements, supporting lifecycle management, assisting with pricing, and contributing to go-to-market activities. Products include connectivity services, end-user terminals, and customer tools (Portals/APIs) covering Ethernet, Internet, and other managed services typical of government and enterprise markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, customer pain points, and opportunities.
  • Engage with Canada and international government and defense clients to validate product concepts and gather requirements.
  • Translate insights into actionable product specifications and feature sets.
  • Support the end-to-end product development process, from concept through launch and post-launch improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, IT, and operations teams to deliver technically robust and market-relevant products.
  • Assist in prioritizing features and enhancements based on market needs, technical feasibility, and business value.
  • Support internal and external product training for sales and sales engineering teams.
  • Assist in the creation of customer-facing collateral, technical datasheets, and portals/APIs documentation.
  • Participate in go-to-market activities, including demos, proof-of-concepts, and solution design support.
  • Collaborate with sales and business development on RFIs, RFPs, whitepapers, and opportunity assessments.
  • Support strategic proposal development and product positioning in
  • Assist in maintaining product rate cards and supporting bespoke pricing for government contracts.
  • Provide market-informed input to pricing decisions under guidance of the Director.
  • Ensure products comply with regulatory and host-nation requirements.
  • Support legal and engineering teams on frequency clearance, Host Nation Agreements (HNA), and other regulatory matters.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (engineering, IT, legal, business development) to align product initiatives with organizational objectives.
  • Communicate product progress, performance, and status to Director and relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of emerging SATCOM technologies and industry trends.
  • Contribute ideas to improve product capabilities, operational efficiency, and customer experience.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills. –
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into actionable product features.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, IT, legal, operations, and sales teams. –
  • Knowledge of agile product development and product lifecycle management practices. 
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment. –
  • Authorized to work in Canada; occasional travel may be required.

Education and Experience requried

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Satellite Communication, Telecommunications, Business, or a related field.

  • 6-9 years of experience in product management, ideally within satellite communications or telecom. Experience supporting government or defense customers such as Canada DND, CAF, DRDC or CSE is required.  Experience with GEO/LEO/MEO satellite networks, Government Products and Services is also required.

The role requires Canadian Security Clearance.
