Your career is an investment that grows over time!

Wealthsimple is on a mission to help everyone achieve financial freedom by reimagining what it means to manage your money. Using smart technology, we take financial services that are often confusing, opaque and expensive and make them transparent and low-cost for everyone. We’re the largest fintech company in Canada, with over 3+ million users who trust us with more than $100 billion in assets.

Our teams ship often and make an impact with groundbreaking ideas. We're looking for talented people who keep it simple and value collaboration and humility as we continue to create inclusive and high-performing teams where people can be inspired to do their best work.

About the Payment Cards Team
The Payment Cards team is one of our newest and most exciting teams, responsible for building a card portfolio the Wealthsimple way—simple, transparent, and low-cost. We are rethinking payment cards from the ground up to help Canadians manage their spending better, and get rewarded for doing so. We aim to deliver a highly rewarding experience that avoids the typical traps of traditional credit and spending products, integrating seamlessly into our entire product ecosystem, and fostering deeper relationships with our clients in the process.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Launch & grow a market-leading credit card program
  • Define and drive the product vision and roadmap for Wealthsimple’s credit card offering and payment cards platform capabilities across credit and banking
  • Operate at both strategic and tactical levels—setting direction while also rolling up your sleeves when needed
  • Contribute to defining an ambitious product vision and strategy for your domain, owning the roadmap for the Payment Cards team
  • Lead the planning, development, and launch of new product experiences that continuously raise the bar on quality and impact
  • Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and data scientists, fostering a "do-what-it-takes" mentality to deliver impactful projects
  • Break down complex, behind-the-scenes projects into discrete phases that deliver value to clients and the business incrementally
  • Develop a deep understanding of the payments landscape, including credit modeling, fraud protection, collections, and third-party vendor evaluations
  • Conduct hands-on quantitative and qualitative analysis, and talk directly to customers to uncover problems, identify unmet needs, and validate solutions

What you’ll bring:

  • A 5+ year track record of building and shipping products that customers love and that produce business impact
  •  A shipping mentality. We don't believe in spending forever analyzing and debating. The best way to validate something is to ship it—so let's ship it, learn, and iterate
  • High agency and a bias for action. You can work independently to drive projects forward and have a demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Curiosity and a first-principles approach. You dig deep into any problem, ask "why" relentlessly, and can turn complex problems into simple, elegant experiences
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to pull your own data, develop business cases, and synthesize inputs to inform prioritization decisions
  • Enough technical know-how to talk with engineers about architecture and technical considerations that impact the product, weighing tradeoffs at all times

Nice to have:

  • Experience working at a high-growth startup or as an entrepreneur
  • Experience in the fintech or payments space
  • A passion for personal finance and building simpler, more accessible financial services for everyone
