The Role:

As a Senior Project Manager, Design, you will play a pivotal role in leading the project management of design elements for major rehabilitation and fit-up projects. Your responsibilities will involve overseeing and coordinating all activities within the design process, ensuring the successful rehabilitation and preservation of historical buildings and sites. Your expertise will be critical in managing the design team, consultants, and stakeholders to deliver exceptional architectural solutions while meeting project timelines and budgetary constraints.


What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors to develop and implement design strategies that align with heritage preservation guidelines and project objectives.
  • Manage the design development process from concept through construction documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and historical preservation standards.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of architectural drawings, specifications, and documentation, ensuring accuracy, quality, and completeness.
  • Coordinate and facilitate design workshops, meetings, and presentations with project stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and make informed design decisions.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or issues, and implement effective mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative design environment, encouraging creativity, sustainability, and best practices in heritage restoration.
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports, updates, and presentations to project sponsors, clients, and key stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Engineering; professional architectural (OAA) or engineering (P.Eng.) license required. 
  • Ability to work on-site 1-3+ days per week, as needed. 
  • Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager overseeing complex architectural projects, particularly in heritage restoration, preservation, or fit-ups.
  • Extensive knowledge of architectural design principles and building codes.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate design activities effectively.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in architectural software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp) and project management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and resources while delivering high-quality design outcomes.
  • Existing Government of Canada Secret security clearance is required.
