Figment powers the future of Web3 through industry-leading blockchain infrastructure. As the leading provider of staking solutions, we help 500+ institutional clients optimize their crypto rewards, including top exchanges, asset managers, wallets, foundations, custodians, and major token holders. Our clients trust Figment for a comprehensive suite of services, including reward optimization, cutting-edge API development, detailed rewards reporting, seamless partner integrations, governance support, and slashing protection.

Backed by a team of passionate and intelligent Figmates, with a 100% remote-first global presence across 12 countries, our company is on a mission to accelerate the adoption, growth, and long-term success of the Web3 ecosystem. We’re building the infrastructure that will power the decentralized future.

As a fast-growing tech company, we’re looking for builders and innovators — people who thrive in the face of uncertainty and are motivated to make an impact. We are also looking for true teammates - people who are genuine, humble, and driven to level up together. If you're excited to shape the future, contribute to an energetic company culture, and work at the cutting edge of blockchain technology, we want you to join our team and help us lead the charge!

About the opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to design, develop, and scale Figment’s staking infrastructure. In this role, you will lead backend development initiatives, drive architectural improvements, and ensure our APIs and services are performant, secure, and scalable.

You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, security experts, and other stakeholders to build and optimize backend services, enhance database performance, and develop APIs that abstract the complexity of blockchain SDKs. As a senior team member, you will take ownership of complex projects, solve challenging problems independently, and mentor junior engineers.

The ideal candidate has extensive expertise in Ruby on Rails, relational databases, and distributed systems, strong API design skills, familiarity with JavaScript, and a solid understanding of security pitfalls and performance optimization. You should be comfortable leading technical discussions, mentoring engineers, and making strategic decisions that enhance our backend systems. This is a high-impact role with opportunities to shape product direction, refine best practices, and contribute to the long-term success of Figment’s staking platform.

How you will make an impact

  • Designing and developing scalable backend services using Ruby on Rails.
  • Optimizing relational database structures and queries for performance and scalability.
  • Building and maintaining secure, high-performance APIs (RESTful and GraphQL).
  • Contributing to architectural decisions, distributed system design, and microservices strategies.
  • Developing JavaScript-based APIs to facilitate blockchain integrations.
  • Mentoring junior engineers, sharing best practices, and fostering technical growth.
  • Improving performance, reliability, and security across backend systems.
  • Leading technical initiatives and working independently to solve complex challenges.
  • Collaborating with product and engineering leadership to align technical priorities with business goals.

What you will bring to the team

  • Extensive experience with Ruby on Rails and building scalable web applications.
  • Deep understanding of database modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Strong background in distributed systems, microservices, and system architecture.
  • Experience with background processing systems (Sidekiq, Redis).
  • Familiarity with JavaScript and working with third-party libraries.
  • Ability to lead projects, drive technical strategy, and mentor engineers.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Strong bias towards simplicity and maintainability.

Technologies we use

Ruby on Rails, Postgresql, Databases, AWS, Kubernetes, Javascript

  • We aim for the entire process to take around 2-3 weeks from initial screen to offer. There can be exceptions on either side of the bell curve here, but as a rule, that’s the time-frame you can expect.

See here for Figment's Privacy Policy and California Employee Privacy Policy.
