Interior Design Show

The Interior Design Show (IDS) is Canada’s design fair – the national platform for contemporary, cutting-edge design. It is the annual meeting place for the architecture and design community. Our two shows in Toronto (January) and Vancouver (September) welcome thousands of visitors to experience the latest in the industry, through manufacture’s booths, special immersive installations, and keynote speakers from around the world.

Job Description

This role is based in our Toronto office.

The Interior Design Show (IDS), a flagship event under Informa Connect, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Senior Sales Manager to drive the commercial success of its Toronto and Vancouver shows. Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Senior Sales Manager will be responsible for contributing 40% of the sales revenue for both events, playing a pivotal role in shaping the growth and impact of IDS within the design community.

This position offers a competitive salary plus commission, alongside Informa’s comprehensive benefits package, which includes a health plan and RRSP contributions. The role is hybrid, with the majority of time spent at Informa’s Toronto office.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Development

  • Booth Sales: Actively pursue new and existing business opportunities through outbound sales efforts, including cold calling, client meetings, and networking within the design community.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, preparing tailored proposals and closing sales to meet revenue targets.
  • Identify and qualify new leads by researching design and architecture websites, magazines, directories, and attending local and international trade shows.
  • Conduct in-person visits to potential clients whenever possible to strengthen relationships and secure business.

Account Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the year, ensuring their needs and expectations are met promptly and professionally.
  • Manage relationships with major national show sponsors, providing exceptional service and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Maintain regular communication with the account base to ensure client satisfaction and retention.

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven track record in sales and business development, ideally within the design sector.
  • 5-10 years of experience in sales, event planning, or business development roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize large-scale events.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience working within the design community, with an appreciation for high-quality design.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
