Main Responsibilities
- Specific duties of the role will include reviewing subsystem designs to ensure compliance with system level specifications, interface documentation, performing system level simulations regarding RF link performance, availability, capacity, latency, etc. At times you will be required to propose changes to requirements specifications to refine the overall system performance. You will be required to make assessments regarding the development and deployment plans.
- You will derive and maintain top level specifications for use by subsystems and respond to requests to modify the requirements as necessary. As well you will create and review test procedures and plans as well as test results to ensure compliance with the specifications.
- Characterize and analyze system performance. Develop and maintain performance budgets on specific aspects of the system.
- Provide technical support to regulatory, coordination, and market access teams and provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior. On occasion you will be expected to prepare and deliver presentations to the Telesat technical community.
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems engineering or a related discipline with emphasis on some combination of digital RF communications, computer engineering and network engineering.
- Extensive experience in the development and deployment at the Systems Engineering level in the following areas is essential: satellite mission development, RF and Digital Communications, large wide-area-networks (WAN & SD-WAN). You should be experienced in formal Systems Engineering Methodologies, particularly space-based paradigms.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience relating to the defined responsibilities.
- At least 5 years experience working in the satellite communications industry would be an asset.
- Experience and expertise in Systems Engineering should be highlighted in the application.
- Any industry recognized certificates of achievement relating to this position should be highlighted in the application.
Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Model Based Systems Engineering experience is an asset
- Familiarity with DVB-S2X/RCS2 family of protocols is an asset.

- Able to present complex ideas to a more general audience.
- Committed to excellent work products.
- Able to manage several complicated issues simultaneously.
- Experience with JAMA, Sharepoint, Confluence is expected.
