Comment vous aurez un impact :

  • Concevoir et valider des puces photoniques sur silicium pour des émetteurs et récepteurs optiques haute vitesse, en équilibrant les exigences de performance, de coût et de fiabilité.
  • Définir les dispositions des circuits intégrés photoniques (GDS) et collaborer avec les partenaires de fabrication de wafers pour la vérification des conceptions, la production et la livraison.
  • Diriger et contribuer aux revues de conception de circuits photoniques avant leur mise en production.
  • Soutenir le prototypage des modules, la définition des tests et le transfert des conceptions vers une production à grande échelle en partenariat avec les équipes des opérations et de fabrication.
  • Stimuler les améliorations continues en matière de performance, de rendement et de fiabilité tout au long du cycle de vie des produits.
  • Collaborer avec des équipes multidisciplinaires pour livrer des prototypes et des produits de production basés sur la plateforme de photonique sur silicium de Ciena.
  • Surveiller, documenter et communiquer les progrès techniques tout en identifiant de manière proactive les risques pouvant affecter les spécifications, les calendriers ou les budgets.

Les qualifications indispensables :

  • Master ou Ph.D. en Optique, Physique, Génie Physique ou une discipline connexe.
  • Minimum de 5+ années d’expérience dans l’industrie en conception de circuits intégrés photoniques sur silicium.
  • Expérience dans la livraison de produits photoniques sur silicium dans des environnements de production.
  • Maîtrise avancée des outils de conception photoniques et électroniques, notamment Cadence Virtuoso et Ansys Lumerical.
  • Solides connaissances des principes de conception des circuits intégrés photoniques passifs et actifs.
  • Capacité à travailler de manière autonome tout en contribuant efficacement au sein d’équipes multidisciplinaires.
  • Maîtrise écrite et orale du français et de l’anglais.

Les atouts :

  • Expérience pratique dans la caractérisation des circuits intégrés photoniques, y compris les tests en courant continu (DC) et en radiofréquence (RF) pour les dispositifs actifs et passifs.
  • Connaissance des systèmes de communication optique et des architectures optiques haute vitesse.

Ciena is the global leader in high-speed connectivity. Within the High-Speed Photonic Component (HSPC) organization, this role is central to advancing Ciena’s silicon photonics innovation and enabling next-generation optical networking solutions. As a Silicon Photonics Chip Designer, this position directly shapes the performance, scalability, and manufacturability of high-speed optical transmitters and receivers across Ciena’s product portfolio.


How you will make an impact:

• Design and validate silicon photonics chips for high-speed optical transmitters and receivers, balancing performance, cost, and reliability requirements
• Define photonic integrated circuit layouts (GDS) and collaborate with wafer fabrication partners on design verification, production, and delivery
• Lead and contribute to photonic circuit design reviews prior to release to manufacturing
• Support module prototyping, test definition, and transfer of designs to high-volume production in partnership with operations and manufacturing teams
• Drive continuous improvements in performance, yield, and reliability across the full product life cycle
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver prototypes and production products based on Ciena’s silicon photonics platform
• Monitor, document, and communicate technical progress while proactively identifying risks impacting specifications, schedules, or budgets


The must haves:

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in optics, physics, engineering physics, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 5+ years of industry experience in silicon photonics integrated circuit design
• Proven track record of delivering silicon photonics products into production environments
• Advanced proficiency with photonic and electronic design tools, including Cadence Virtuoso and Ansys Lumerical
• Strong knowledge of passive and active photonic integrated circuit design principles
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Written and verbal fluency in both English and French


Nice to haves:

• Hands-on experience with photonic integrated circuit characterization, including direct current (DC) and radio frequency (RF) testing of active and passive devices
• Knowledge of optical communications systems and high-speed optical architectures
• Experience supporting yield improvement initiatives and manufacturing ramp activities
• Familiarity with high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environments
• Exposure to reliability testing and qualification methodologies


Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position is $98, 100– $156, 700

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
