We are experienced. We have been fortunate to have learned from mentors and peers at institutions such as Google, LinkedIn, JUMP Trading, Citadel, PEAK6 Investments, Goldman Sachs, Harvard Business School, Carnegie Mellon, IIT + more.

Impact

At FalconX, you’ll help create a more open financial system. In building trading, credit and custody infrastructure, we are enabling thousands more institutions to enter the market and support a more open and accessible financial system. The world’s largest financial institutions from Wall Street to Silicon Valley will turn to you for products that provide unparalleled seamless, efficient and secure access to the cryptocurrency sector.

FalconX is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help scale our Custody and Staking infrastructure, a fast-growing product line that extends our industry-leading Prime Brokerage platform. In this role, you’ll design and build backend systems that power secure, reliable, and scalable wallet infrastructure supporting all major chains and protocols.

We’re looking for a strong backend engineer with experience building resilient, high-performance systems. Familiarity with cryptocurrencies, blockchain protocols, and wallets is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Drive architectural design and implementation of scalable wallet and staking infrastructure
  • Build and operate secure, high-availability backend services powering wallet infrastructure across major blockchains (e.g. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others)
  • Develop generalizable systems and interfaces that allow us to scale the protocols we support
  • Collaborate tightly with a small, high-caliber team to deliver reliable, high quality-systems with a strong attention to detail
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product leadership to prioritize, design, and deliver new features on an ambitious product roadmap
  • Ensure systems are designed with strong security, reliability, and operational efficiency in mind
  • Rapidly iterate to support new blockchain features and protocols, while maintaining production-quality performance
  • Treat customer-facing issues with a high sense of urgency, while ensuring ongoing communication, quality, and resolution
  • Provide ongoing maintenance of the technology stack as it matures, ensuring production-quality reliability, impeccable performance, and ease of use

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience designing, building, and scaling backend systems
  • Track record of delivering and maintaining production services over multiple years of iteration and growth
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages, such as Java, Python, TypeScript, or Go
  • Experience operating distributed systems and deploying services at scale with modern tooling (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, cloud providers)
  • Solid knowledge of software design principles, data structures, and modern development practices
  • Familiarity with cryptographic signing algorithms, asymmetric cryptography, and key management is a plus
  • Prior experience with digital asset custody, wallets, or blockchain infrastructure is a plus, but not required
  • Self-starter with the ability to adapt quickly, learn new technologies, and drive technical decision-making

Base pay for this role is expected to be between $179,000 - $242,000 USD for New York City and San Francisco Bay Area. This expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role will also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance linked bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for a successful candidate will be determined based on a number of factors such as location, skillset, experience, and qualifications.
