The Opportunity - Senior Software Engineer - Ruby on Rails (Remote - CANADA)

Wrapbook is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails) to play a hands-on role in driving our mission to build an outstanding technology company. You will join a collaborative, cross-functional team that delivers features powering the very core of our product: ensuring workers are paid accurately, efficiently, and at scale.

This role sits within our Payables group, which serves as the backbone of Wrapbook’s payroll platform. You will focus primarily on backend development, transforming complex agreements into reliable, maintainable code that drives our payroll calculation engine. While most of your work will center on backend systems, you will also collaborate with frontend and infrastructure teams to deliver complete, end-to-end solutions.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts to provide elegant solutions to Wrapbook customer problems

  • Lead and decompose complex, ambiguous projects into actionable technical tasks

  • Take ownership of feature delivery from concept to production

  • Write performant, scalable, and secure backend code in Ruby on Rails

  • Design and optimize data models and SQL queries (PostgreSQL)

  • Participate in code reviews, mentor and learn from fellow engineers, and help raise the technical bar

  • Ensure code is well-tested and well-architected

  • Actively improve our tools, processes and best practices

What you’ll have:

  • You have a strong technical background and experience building production web applications

  • Strong experience as a full stack or backend developer with Ruby (Rails experience is a bonus)

  • You understand how to write, analyze and optimize SQL queries (PostgreSQL is a plus)

  • You are customer-focused and like to pay attention to detail and value quality

  • You have experience building Ruby on Rails applications and APIs

Our Tech Stack:

  • Full stack Ruby on Rails (Frontend & Backend)

  • StimulusJS

  • Redis

  • Sidekiq

  • PostgreSQL

  • Kubernetes
