About EnergyHub

EnergyHub empowers utilities and their customers to create a clean, distributed energy future. We help consumers turn their smart thermostats, EVs, batteries, and other products into virtual power plants that keep the grid stable and enable higher penetration of solar and wind power.

About the Opportunity

EnergyHub is looking to hire two Senior Full Stack Software Engineers to expand our markets portfolios.  Wholesale electricity markets are where retailers and electricity generators buy and sell electricity before it is delivered to customers. EnergyHub participates in these markets as a third party aggregator.  This is an exciting opportunity to help expand EnergyHub's participation in California markets, and thereby contribute towards a more stable and flexible energy grid.

We're seeking a candidate who is passionate about software engineering and thrives in a collaborative environment. Your eagerness to contribute to the team's success and the wider organization will be key. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex backend and web applications using Java and React. You will play a key role in all stages of the development lifecycle and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

Main Responsibilities: What you’ll do

  • Design and implement high-quality, scalable, and secure backend services using Java (Spring Boot).
  • Develop and maintain dynamic front-end applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (React)
  • Participate in code reviews, mentoring junior developers, and driving best practices in software development.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, internal engineering teams, and stakeholders to drive high-impact projects.
  • Work within real-world constraints to develop creative solutions that maintain platform flexibility and scalability.
  • Ensure best practices in CI/CD, unit/integration testing, and code quality.
  • Mentor and support other engineers, fostering a strong technical culture of respect, open communication, and collaboration.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends

Required Skills and Experience: What you need

  • 5 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably with prior senior-level responsibilities.
  • Strong experience with Spring Framework
  • Strong experience in Java (preferably Java 11+) and experience with at least one scripting language (e.g., Python3).
  • Proficiency with front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and frameworks like React
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Skills and Experience: Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AWS, and Robot Framework.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and deployment strategies
  • Ability to work across team boundaries to identify and solve pain points that affect engineering velocity, system resilience, and system/service performance.
