About Stepful:

Stepful is reimagining allied healthcare training by offering affordable, online, instructor-led, and AI-supported programs that help learners—especially those from underserved communities—launch high-demand healthcare careers.

In addition to our direct-to-consumer training, Stepful partners with leading healthcare institutions to build talent pipelines and address the growing shortage of allied health workers. Our graduates, including Medical Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians and more, go on to work at major employers like CVS, NY-Presbyterian, and Walgreens.

Stepful is backed by Y Combinator, Reach Capital, and AlleyCorp, with a recent $31.5M Series B led by Oak HC/FT. Additionally, we were named the #1 EdTech company in the U.S. by TIME for 2025 and to GSV's 150 Most Transformational Growth Companies in Digital Learning.

We’re unlocking the full potential of the global workforce—improving access to quality healthcare for everyone, everywhere.

Our values:

We credit much of our success to our exceptional team. We’re looking for mission-driven individuals who thrive in fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environments, and embody our four core values:

Care first: We do whatever it takes for our students to succeed.

Learn quickly: We test, learn with data, and iterate.

Build together: We win when we rely on each other.

Own it: We show up, take initiative, and show pride.

The opportunity:

This is a critical opportunity for a Senior Recruiter, Product & Design to join our growing team and significantly impact Stepful's ability to scale our Product Management and Product Design teams. You'll play a pivotal role in identifying, engaging, and securing top talent—the architects and builders of our innovative educational platform—directly contributing to the expansion of our reach and impact.

Success in this role will be measured by hiring high-quality members for our Product and Design teams while hitting our time-to-fill targets, being a strategic partner for our hiring managers, and taking a proactive approach to candidate engagement. While your primary focus will be on Product, the expectation is that you will support non-Product roles as the business needs.
This is a Hybrid opportunity, requiring 3 days/week (Tues-Thur) in our SoHo office in NYC. This role reports to the Technical Recruiting Lead.

What you’ll do:
  • Full-Cycle Recruitment for Product & Design:

    • Manage and own the entire recruitment lifecycle for critical roles including Product Managers, Product Designers (UX/UI), and Product Operations, collaborating closely with Product Leadership and hiring managers to meet ambitious headcount goals.

    • Develop and execute effective sourcing strategies, leveraging proactive outreach, automation, AI tools, and creative techniques to build robust pipelines of high-quality, diverse candidates with expertise in the full product lifecycle, from discovery and design to launch and iteration.

    • Ensure an exceptional and equitable candidate experience from initial contact through offer and onboarding.

Product & Design Strategy & Collaboration:
    • Partner with Product and Design leaders to deeply understand role requirements, ideal candidate profiles (e.g., specific domain expertise, design methodology), and team dynamics.

    • Collaborate to design and implement structured and inclusive interview processes that ensure fair evaluation, focusing on competencies like user empathy, data-driven decision-making, and design craft.

    • Contribute to strategic discussions and initiatives aimed at continuously improving our Product and Design hiring practices, employer brand, and diversity efforts within the Product community.

    Infrastructure & Process Improvement:
    • Utilize and optimize existing recruiting systems, tools, and best practices.

    • Continuously identify opportunities to enhance recruiting workflows, refine tools, and scale our hiring infrastructure.

    What you'll bring:
    • 5+ years of dedicated technical recruiting experience, with a significant focus (3+ years) on hiring Product Managers and Product Designers, ideally with a blend of agency and in-house recruitment exposure.

    • Proven track record of successfully hiring across various Product disciplines, preferably within high-growth startup environments.

    • Exceptional sourcing skills, demonstrating creativity in finding and engaging top-tier talent, and familiarity with sourcing automations, AI-powered tools, and other recruiting technologies to enhance efficiency and reach.

    • Deep understanding of the Product Management discipline, Product Design (UX/UI) principles, and associated tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Miro) and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean, Design Thinking).

    • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment.

    • A detail-oriented and process-minded approach, coupled with a deep commitment to delivering an outstanding candidate experience and maintaining high hiring quality.

    Bonus points if:
    • Operated in a high-growth startup experience

    • Experience with Ashby

    • Experience with automation/AI-based recruiting tools

    • Active network within the Product Management or Design communities (e.g., via conferences, meetups, online forums).

Interview Process:
  • Initial Screen with Technical Recruiting Lead

  • Case-Based Interview with Technical Recruiting Lead

  • Take-Home Exercise

  • On-Site Panel Interview

Benefits and Compensation:
  • Meaningful Equity Stake

  • Subsidized Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plan options

  • 401(k)

  • FSA, HSA and commuter benefits

  • Open vacation policy, including:

    • Guidance of 15 days PTO annually

    • Stepful closed the last week of December

    • 15 work-from-anywhere days

    • 10 public holidays observed for 2025

The target base salary range for this opportunity is $125,000 - $150,000, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including equity and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, internal pay equity and other relevant business considerations.
