Job Summary
HOOPP is reimagining how members interact with HOOPP through their membership journey. We’re looking for a Senior UX/UI Designer who is both a strategic design leader and a hands-on practitioner - someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, embraces constant iteration, and knows how to turn complex financial concepts into intuitive, human-centered digital experiences.
In the near term, this role will play a critical design leadership role in shaping HOOPP’s next-generation Member digital experiences across web and mobile platforms. You’ll partner closely with product, engineering, members test groups, and business leaders to move quickly from insight to execution, guiding the organization toward confident, data-informed design decisions.
What you will do:
Lead the end-to-end UX/UI design process for complex web and mobile applications
Design intuitive, accessible, and elegant experiences for financial planning tools and consumer products
Translate business goals and user needs into design strategies, flows, and high-fidelity UI
Drive rapid iteration through testing, analytics, and feedback, with the ability to turn around design updates quickly
Act as a design leader and doer
Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Business stakeholders
Ensure clear traceability between requirements, design artifacts, and implementation, partnering with Product and Engineering to maintain alignment through delivery
Comfortable presenting and working with senior executives demonstrating and obtaining feedback
Advocate for the user while balancing regulatory and business constraints
Contribute to and evolve design systems and accessibility standards
Mentor designers and cross-functional partners
Key Accountabilities
Deliver UX/UI solutions that improve member engagement and clarity
Maintain crisp alignment between requirements, design specifications, and implemented solutions
Enable faster, better product decisions through strong design artifacts
Ensure consistency, usability, and accessibility across digital experiences
Build trust and influence across teams
Design & Technical Tools (Required Experience)
Design & Prototyping
Figma (advanced proficiency required) — including component libraries, design systems, prototyping, and rapid iteration
Prototyping tools such as ProtoPie (others considered)
User Research & Validation
Usability testing tools such as Maze or UserTesting
AI-Enabled Design
Experience using AI tools (e.g., for ideation, UX writing, asset generation, interaction concepts, workflow acceleration) as part of the design process
Agile tools such as Azure Devops, Confluence, Miro, FigJam
Front-End & Technical Literacy:
Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and basic JavaScript concepts
Familiarity with React-based environments
Strong understanding of WCAG accessibility standards
What you bring:
Professional Experience:
7–10 years of UX/UI design experience (preferably in financial services)
Proven experience designing consumer-facing (e-commerce retail) and financial planning and transacting digital products
Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams and leading feedback sessions
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Psychology, Computer Science, or related field
Equivalent practical experience considered

The expected annual base salary range for this role is: $103,000 - $153,000 CAD
The actual base salary offered to the successful candidate may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, individual's expertise and level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered.
This role is eligible to participate in discretionary incentive plan(s), subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan text.
