Within this structure, depending on your expertise and experience level, you will contribute to and/or lead Indigenous relations and engagement for a major infrastructure project and support reconciliation, environmental and impact assessment processes, and inclusive development.

We’re looking for a relationship-builder, collaborator, and problem-solver. Someone who thrives on meaningful engagement, understands the nuances of Indigenous consultation, and wants to make a real impact on projects that shape communities. Your daily role will involve supporting a team responsible for organizing, planning, and delivering Indigenous consultation and engagement processes, building strong relationships with Indigenous communities, and identifying both potential impacts and socio-economic opportunities related to project activities under the Impact Assessment Act.

Key responsibilities and activities include:

  • Planning and delivering consultation and engagement activities that promote meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and reconciliation with Indigenous communities.
  • Assisting in the co-development and implementation of Indigenous participation and socio-economic benefit plans, including opportunities for employment, business development, and service provision.
  • Organizing and facilitating meetings, workshops, and presentations (in-person or virtual), including preparing materials, managing logistics, and ensuring accurate documentation of outcomes.
  • Monitoring and supporting the implementation of agreements, protocols, and plans with Indigenous partners and documenting engagement activities in systems such as Borealis.
  • Preparing factual and analytical reports, briefings, and progress updates for internal and client review.
  • Traveling to Indigenous communities or meetings with community representatives as required.

  • The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $95,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Indigenous Relations Services;
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills (professional bilingualism a strong asset);
  •  Must be French first bilingual
  • Experience with Impact Assessment or Environmental Assessment projects required;
  • Must reside in Quebec (Montreal or Quebec City) or Toronto and Eastern Ontario;
  • Proven understanding of Indigenous consultation processes and relevant legislation/policies;
  • Demonstrated field experience in engagement, facilitation, and relationship-building;
  • Experience documenting consultation and engagement activities;
  • Must be able to travel at least monthly as required by clients within Ontario and Quebec.

Assets That Will Set You Apart

  • Familiarity with engagement management software is an asset;
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g., Indigenous studies, social sciences, environmental planning, or resource management) is an asset;
  • Consulting background strongly preferred;
  • Major Projects and/or regulatory experience;
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with Indigenous communities, governments, and clients;

Mandats et responsabilités

Selon votre expérience et votre champ d’expertise, vous contribuerez ou dirigerez des projets en relations et en engagement avec les peuples autochtones, dans le cadre d’un grand projet d’infrastructure, tout en soutenant la réconciliation, les processus d’évaluation environnementale et d’impact, ainsi qu’un développement inclusif.

Votre rôle quotidien consistera à appuyer une équipe responsable de l’organisation, de la planification et de la réalisation des processus de consultation et d’engagement avec les peuples autochtones, à bâtir des relations de confiance avec les communautés et à cerner les impacts potentiels et les occasions socioéconomiques liés aux activités de projet relevant de la Loi sur l’évaluation d’impact.

Principales responsabilités et activités:

  • Planifier et réaliser des activités de consultation et d’engagement favorisant un dialogue significatif, la collaboration et la réconciliation avec les communautés autochtones.
  • Participer à la collaboration et à la mise en œuvre de plans de participation autochtone et d’avantages socioéconomiques, incluant des occasions d’emploi, de développement d’entreprises et de prestation de services.
  • Organiser et animer des rencontres, ateliers et présentations (en personne ou virtuelles), incluant la préparation du matériel, la logistique et la documentation des résultats.
  • Suivre la mise en œuvre d’ententes, de protocoles et de plans avec les partenaires autochtones et consigner les activités d’engagement dans des systèmes tels que Borealis.
  • Rédiger des rapports factuels et analytiques, des notes de breffage et des mises à jour de progrès pour les clients et la direction.
  • Effectuer des déplacements fréquents dans les communautés autochtones ou participer à des rencontres avec leurs représentants, selon les besoins.

Compétences / Expérience / Formation

Exigences essentielles :

  • Minimum de cinq (5) ans d’expérience en services de relations avec les peuples autochtones;
  • Excellentes habiletés de communication orale et écrite en français et en anglais (bilinguisme professionnel obligatoire);
  • Expérience confirmée en projets d’évaluation d’impact ou d’évaluation environnementale;
  • Résider au Québec ou Ontario;
  • Compréhension approfondie des processus de consultation autochtone et des politiques ou cadres législatifs pertinents;
  • Expérience démontrée sur le terrain en engagement, en facilitation et en développement de relations;
  • Expérience en documentation d’activités de consultation et d’engagement.
