Four types of roles are available - during the interview, we will discuss which best fits your interests:
  • 5G Software Developer - develop, debug, and test 5G baseband Layer 2 software features
  • Tools Developer - build command-line, web-based, log analysis, and software management tools
  • Computer Science / Data Science Developer - apply statistical and AI/ML methods to time-series data for 5G feature verification
  • Computer Science Developer (Analytics & APIs) - build analytics APIs and data pipelines to track 5G feature performance

What you will do:
  • Collaborate with colleagues using Agile ways of working
  • Develop real-time 5G base station software
  • Apply AI/ML skills to development work
  • Develop and code automated 5G test cases and test tools
  • Perform software feature and integration testing on 5G lab equipment
  • Work in 5G simulations, including signal processing with AI/ML
  • Develop command-line and web-based tools to support software development
  • Investigate and help resolve issues found during testing
  • Generate test data for design validation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the test environment

The skills you bring:
  • Academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Currently working toward a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree (any co-op term level welcome)
  • Strong interpersonal skills: collaborative, self-directed, organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Programming experience in any of: Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, C/C++, Perl, Java SpringBoot, or HTML/CSS
  • Familiarity with Linux, Gerrit, GitHub, Jenkins, Django, or Angular is an asset
  • Knowledge of HTTP & RESTful frameworks, database fundamentals, Kubernetes, or Docker is an asset
  • General knowledge of LTE and/or 5G wireless protocols is an asset
  • For Data Science roles: proficiency in Python data science libraries (pandas, numpy, scipy, statsmodels) and experience with time-series analysis
  • For Analytics/API roles: experience with REST API frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, or similar); familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization is a plus

Eligibility requirements:
  • 2.7+ GPA or equivalent , Uploading an unofficial copy of your transcript
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited undergraduate, master's, or PhD on a full-time basis at a four-year college or university at the time of the co-op
  • Be available to work 40 hours per week

Your Pay
The salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
The salary range for this position is:
Bachelors: $25.5/hr CAD - $34.5/hr CAD
Masters: $37/hr CAD
PhD: $41/hr CAD
