Software Developer Co-Op
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
Duration: 16 months (for co-ops) | 8 months+ (for interns, with potential for extension)
Start Date: May 4th, 2026
About this opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated, hardworking co-op student to join our radio verification team working on state-of-the-art multi standard radio equipment. The primary focus of this role is to develop AI/ML techniques that increase productivity and to build automation for radio performance verification of new 4G/5G radio products. This position requires on-site presence in the lab.
What you will do:
• Develop test automation software in Java to run and orchestrate performance tests on 4G/5G radio equipment.• Implement AI/ML solutions (prototyping and evaluation) to solve engineering problems such as KPI prediction, and test optimization.• Experience with Python and ML libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) for prototyping.• Preprocess and analyze measurement data (logs, KPIs, traces); create features and datasets for model training and evaluation.• Produce formal documentation for test setups, automation code, and experiment results.• Integrate ML models or scripts into existing test pipelines and support their use in the lab.• Collaborate with RF engineers and project managers to deliver verification objectives and meet team goals.
The skills you bring:
• Enrolled in a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.• Coding experience in Java (highly preferred).• Good understanding of AI/ML models and workflows (supervised/unsupervised learning, evaluation metrics).• Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).• Good time management, prioritization and problem-solving skills.• Willingness and ability to work on site and in the lab.
