Within Microsoft Fabric, the Data Integration team enables organizations to connect, move, and transform data across their entire data estate. Fabric’s unified integration experience helps customers bring data together so it is trusted, accessible, and ready to power analytics, real-time insights, and AI-driven experiences.

The Fabric Mirroring team is seeking a Software Engineer to help design, build, and operate next-generation data movement services that transfer large volumes of data from source systems into Microsoft Fabric with minimal latency. The team focuses on advanced replication and data movement scenarios while delivering intuitive, user-friendly experiences. Working closely with engineers, product managers, and partners across Microsoft, you will contribute to building reliable, scalable, and high-performing solutions that enable customers to unlock the full value of their data.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable and reliable software solutions. Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while following engineering best practices, coding standards, and team guidelines.
  • Use debugging tools, logs, telemetry, and monitoring systems to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues. Participate in root cause analysis and implement fixes to improve service reliability and performance.
  • Participate in code reviews by providing and incorporating constructive feedback. Ensure code meets quality, security, reliability, and maintainability standards before deployment.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of product features and services. Collaborate with senior engineers and architects to evaluate technical approaches, document designs, and implement solutions that meet business and engineering requirements.
  • Create and maintain automated tests, including unit and integration tests, to ensure product quality and reliability. Continuously improve test coverage and support CI/CD practices.
  • Work with engineers across teams to understand dependencies, integrations, and system interactions. Help ensure solutions are secure, performant, and aligned with overall platform architecture.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and engineering teammates to understand customer and business requirements. Incorporate feedback and telemetry insights to improve product experiences and deliver customer value.
  • Learn and apply engineering best practices, new technologies, and development methodologies while contributing to a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ years professional experience in enterprise level distributed systems

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python 
    • OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $85,800 - CAD $169,300 per year.
