The Member Experience Engineering team builds the web and mobile experiences that Spring Health members use to access care.  We blaze trails with green field innovation, iterate rapidly on feature roadmaps, and optimize the experiences to reduce friction. We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our Member Funnel Optimization team. 

The role is full time, reports to a technically hands on Engineering Manager, is full remote (or optionally hybrid if you happen to live near Manhattan), with travel opportunities at least twice per year for in person events.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design and expand the capabilities of our API (built with Ruby on Rails) which powers several web apps and a mobile app, all of which are used to to screen, diagnose, and provide care for patients
  • Design and expand the capabilities of our web front ends and app, built in React
  • Debug important bugs in a timely manner
  • Building infrastructure to connect our backend and marketing and sales resources
  • Developer experiments to help improve our growth funnels
  • Build on the foundation of a well tested codebase to ensure it remains robust and scalable as our business rapidly growsIdentify areas for growth and iteration on our application stack and advocate for them on the engineering roadmap
  • Help us make decisions like “grow the monolith” or “break things up into microservices” (or some other great idea!). 

What success looks like in this role:

  • Ensuring System Quality: Maintain high system uptime, low defect rates, and provide strong code review feedback.
  • Optimizing Engineering Efficiency: Achieve high completion rates for planned tasks, and increase deployment frequency.
  • Successful Project Delivery: Deliver projects on time, within scope, and with high stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Effective Cross-functional Collaboration: Receive positive feedback from partners, participate actively in meetings, and align on project goals.
  • Independent Work Proficiency: Complete tasks independently, resolve issues before escalating, and track personal tasks accurately.
  • Iterative Learning and Experimentation: Maintain a high success rate for experiments, implement improvements, and share learnings.

What we expect from you:

  • 3+ years of professional development experience
  • Experience with React
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails preferred
  • Bonus points for Typescript experience
  • Bonus points for GraphQL experience
  • Bonus points for experience using a design system library
  • Comfortable working on an agile team and curious about learning new things, experience on larger teams
  • Comfortable moving fast and working through ambiguity - we are a fast-moving startup and are working on balancing the demands of business growth and platform reliability

The target base salary range for this position is $120,000-$150,250, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
