How You Will Contribute:
As an Embedded Software Developer, you’ll be part of a dynamic team designing and developing software for Linux-based systems using C/C++, Bash, and Python. You’ll work across the full software development lifecycle, from analyzing requirements and designing applications to implementing, testing, and maintaining embedded solutions.
You’ll play a key role in debugging, documenting, and optimizing software applications while contributing to backlog defect reduction. You’ll also create scripts, test utilities, and development tools to enhance efficiency and ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
The Must Haves:
- - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- - Experience in embedded software design using C/C++.
- - Proven experience developing embedded software in Linux environments.
- - Strong understanding of multi-processor, high-reliability software systems.
- - Exceptional debugging and analysis skills.
- - Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
The Assets:
- - Knowledge of Carrier Ethernet, MPLS, OAM, NMS, packet switching, and routing.
- - Experience creating and maintaining automated testing frameworks.
- - Familiarity with test-driven development practices.
- - Proficiency with embedded software development tools (e.g., GCC, GDB, Insight, Valgrind).
- - Experience with scripting languages like Python.
Pay Range:
The annual pay range for this position is $ 69,400 - 110,800 CAD
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
