Solution Architect

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Solution Architect to join our dynamic innovation team. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in software systems architecture, with experience with micro services architecture, Kubernetes, Python (for data science / engineering), and Command and Control (C2) systems. As a Junior Software Architect, you will be responsible for assisting in the design and implementation of complex software systems, ensuring they are efficient, scalable, and meet the needs of our clients. You will work closely with other architects, developers, and other stakeholders to contribute to the architectural vision of projects, provide technical guidance, and ensure software solutions adhere to industry standards and best practices. Your role will include hands-on development as well as strategic planning, making it essential for you to have both technical proficiency and strong communication skills.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Assist in the design, prototyping and development of software architecture, focusing on micro services architecture to ensure modularity, scalability and ease of deployment.
  • Contribute to the creation of architectural documentation including diagrams, specifications, and design patterns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and create architectural solutions.
  • Implement software solutions using, for example, Python (for data science / engineering), ensuring high performance and scalability.
  • Work with C2 systems, such as ATAK, to integrate with existing and new solutions and ensure that integrations meet operational and performance requirements.
  • Design and implement message-based protocols, including DDS, NATS, and MQTT.
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs to ensure seamless communication and data exchange between systems.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and adhere to best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design and architectural challenges.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices through continuous learning and professional development.
  • Apply new knowledge to improve software architecture and processes.

Minimum Requirements

  • 1 year of practical experience with micro services architecture and Kubernetes deployments.
  • 3 year of experience with Python programming for data science / data engineering.
  • Familiarity with message-based protocols like DDS, NATS, or MQTT.
  • Strong understanding and implementation experience of REST APIs.
  • Knowledge of agile software engineering methodologies;
  • Undergraduate degree in software engineering, computer science or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in developing and deploying cloud-based applications; Experience with artificial intelligence / machine learning technologies; Experience with C2 systems, such as ATAK; Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS); Experience with IP-based radio systems;
  • Experience with drones (e.g., UAVs), software or systems development;
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Java, C# or C++.
  • Certification in relevant areas like Kubernetes, Azure, AWS, or other cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.

Special Position Requirements

  • Hybrid – 3 days a week onsite;
  • Full time, standard business hours.
