In this technical presales role, you will help customers design secure, scalable, and resilient cloud architectures that support their modernization goals. Using Azure’s IaaS and PaaS services, you will guide organizations through migration, modernization, and optimization — translating technical capabilities into significant business outcomes.   

You will collaborate across teams to deliver impactful solutions that enhance agility, reduce costs, and unlock value through AI-powered infrastructure.   

As a Solution Engineer - Cloud & AI (Azure Platform), you will play a key role in helping customers modernize their infrastructure and unlock the full value of Microsoft’s cloud. You will work directly with technical and business stakeholders to design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient architectures that support AI workloads and business-critical applications.  Your goal as a Solution Engineer is to win the technical decision of customers to commit to use Microsoft technology and cloud services. The solution engineer is expected to both own and win customers’ technical decisions, as well as find new opportunities through their contacts and engagements to build a successful business in their territory.  

You bring deep expertise in migrating core workloads - including Windows, SQL Server, Linux, PostgreSQL, and Oracle—to Azure. Beyond migration, you lead customers through modernization using the 6R strategy, containerization best practices, and Azure-native services like App Service and AKS, while exploring how AI and intelligent agents can accelerate legacy transformation.   
 
You also apply strong networking knowledge to design hybrid and cloud-native solutions, including virtual networks, VPNs, and secure routing architectures that meet enterprise performance and compliance needs.

Responsibilities
  • Achieve technical wins for the portfolio of Cloud services you accountable for. 

  • Create and maintain the right tension to ensure velocity of project decision, delivery & implementation by customers & partners 

  • Drive technical sales by using technical demos, proofs of concept, and technical architecture accelerators to influence solution design and enable deployments.  

  • Lead architecture sessions and technical workshops to accelerate Azure adoption.  

  • Build trusted relationships with platforms leads to co-design secure, scalable solutions.  

  • Resolve technical blockers by collaborating with engineering and sharing customer insights.  

  • Maintain expertise in cloud migration (Windows, SQL, Linux, PostgreSQL, app workloads), resiliency, security, and compliance.  

  • Deepen knowledge of enterprise apps (SAP, Oracle) and Azure VMware Solution (AVS).  

  • Represent Microsoft in customer forums and technical communities through thought leadership.  

  • Own technical journey for Azure Migration with customers leveraging processes and tools, demos, and programs and partners.  Use consultative and/or Challenger method; establish rules of engagement (e.g., role boundaries, handoff strategies) for extended teams.

  • Build strategy: map the agreed customer vision into a strategy, resolve concerns, preventing, and removing technical blockers, and validating a strong business case for investment and translated technology complexity into business impact.  Work with the customer, account team, and partners to orchestrate a roadmap for implementation.   
     

  • Scale through partners, acting as liaison between the partner and account team, facilitating partner resources and processes; supporting partner technical capacity by identifying skill and resource gaps and providing feedback to internal teams. 
     

  • Identify and support the creation of new pipeline within customer engagements. 


Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 6+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR 7+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • 8+ years technical pre-sales, technical consulting, or technology delivery, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years experience with cloud and hybrid, or on premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management.
  • Azure Certifications: Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions (Exam AZ-305)
  • Deep domain knowledge in Data Center Migration, Windows Server, and SQL Server Migration (including modernization to PaaS), VMware, Networking, Security, Storage, BCDR, Infra as Code, Hybrid and Arc, or hands-on experience working with the respective products at the expert level. Additionally deep knowledge/experience with Azure Migrate and RVTools.
  • Competitive Landscape: Knowledge of competitor cloud migration platforms, infrastructure and services including hybrid cloud technologies
  • Experience creating cloud migration Proof of Concepts (PoC), Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) for customers that lead to production deployments.


Solution Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $128,000 - CAD $222,400 per year.
