The Deduction Specialist is responsible for the management of a portfolio of accounts, including the analysis and resolution of all deduction and payment claims for both trade and non-trade spend. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; determining collection and deduction resolution priorities, composing and managing the collection of invalid claims, assembling deduction accounting data, performing complete financial analysis of customer deductions, and supporting the overall business initiatives of cash preservation and revenue generation. This position will have regular interaction with cross-functional personnel in the corporate and operational workspaces, as well as direct customer contacts.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Thoroughly research, analyze, and processing of payment and deduction claims in accordance with the terms of the agreement, departmental processes, systems, and audit requirements.
  • Manage the invalid deduction process from start to finish including escalation, when appropriate, to Commercial Finance, Control, and Field Sales.
  • Research and analyze current and historical financial data for account reconciliations, identifying trends, and determining root cause analysis to drive issue resolution.
  • Effectively prioritize workload by balancing payments, deductions, and invalid claim rebills.
  • Holistically research, analyze, and resolve all open transactions, including customer overpayments and account credits and debits for assigned portfolio of accounts.
  • Effectively communicate and liaise with all internal and external key stakeholders in the timely resolution of deductions and payments.
  • Provide support to the Deductions Supervisor during internal and external audits.
  • Take on special projects in support of the Commercial Finance team and Deductions Supervisor when requested.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or Economics (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as an active participant in a team environment.
  • Capacity to multi-task and prioritize given tight deadlines.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Must be able to convey information to all levels of the organization in a clear, focused, and concise manner.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Result-oriented, hands on, highly motivated, and autonomous with the ability to deal with ambiguity and change.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Previous experience with SAP, Vistex, and High Radius preferred

Compensation Package : $42,300.00 - $56,500.00 . CAD annually
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education and training, and other organizational needs.
