What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be a key part of an innovative, “First to market” technology culture, contributing to CIBC’s digital transformation. As an Senior Application Developer in Payments team, you will join CIBC’s Core Banking and Payments Technology department to provide technical expertise for small to medium, complex projects/initiatives as they relate to the design, build and run of application and/or infrastructure technology in a multi-platform environment. You’ll be responsible for providing extensive technical and operational expertise to facilitate support and enhance service delivery for development of processes and support of applications.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. 

How You’ll Succeed

  • Diagnose and correlate - Disparate information to determine the appropriate course of action for medium to highly complex situations, which requires in-depth investigation and analysis to provide a solution in most situations. You know how and when to escalate more complex situations as appropriate.
  • Complex technical evaluation - Determine risk levels and technical feasibility when making changes to applications; Develop solutions or recommendations to increase effectiveness and efficiency (e.g., deployment methodologies).
  • Strong judgment skills - Work in a highly complex environment where judgement are dependent on a number of variables such as time, complexity; degree of uniqueness, inconsistent information, and / or where many applications are impacted and provide work oversight of junior developers but no direct line management accountabilities.
  • Relationship Management – Posses the knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for working with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner. You have a strong sense of appropriate written communications; you also have the ability to produce a variety of business documents that demonstrate command of language, clarity of thought and orderliness of presentation.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience of 4+ years of hands-on experience in application development using object-oriented programming languages such as Java/ C#/ C/ C++. You possess strong development experience in Linux environments and are proficient in SQL scripting. You are well-versed in DevOps practices, test automation, AI, CI/CD, as well as tools such as GitHub and Jenkins. Knowledge in ATM and Payments Technology, technical design, troubleshooting, production control, and problem solving. It is an asset if you have experience with applications supporting OLTP (On-Line Transaction Processing). Familiarity with HP NonStop Tandem, ISO8583, and Oracle. Experience with Azure Cloud, GoLang, Solace, MQ, Kubernetes, API development, and microservices.
