About the role.
The Senior Financial Analyst, Canada Retail is a key role involved in Commercial Finance and will work directly with the Canada Retail team to profitably grow the retail business. The position will help drive value creation with our customers through financial review of pricing, trade and marketing initiatives as well as support the assessment of innovation. The role works with both sales and marketing, providing financial support on new product launches, customer bids and renewals. Individual will also provide financial leadership on key customers within the Retail landscape. FP&A responsibilities will include the assembly and analysis of financial data supporting the planning and decision-making processes that ensure profitability and sustainability of McCain Foods. This position identifies opportunities and risks and compares results to relative benchmarks. This position works collaboratively with others, institutes best practices, and challenges the acceptance of status quo demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.

Compensation Package : $81,600.00 - $108,900.00 CAD annually + bonus eligibility

What you'll be doing.
FP&A
- Collaborate with key financial and functional stakeholders to facilitate timely and accurate forecasts and drive profitable growth and decision-making for the Canada Retail business.
- Develop and implement various financial analyses including, but not limited to: product/mix profitability, trend reporting and volume analysis
- Ensure the accuracy in assumptions, data and understanding of risks and opportunities while preparing quarterly forecasts & annual budget for the Canada Retail business.
- Enhance quarterly and month-end analysis and value-added reporting to highlight operational drivers and support management decision making.
Sales Finance
- Develop and implement various financial analyses including, but not limited to: product/customer profitability, key customer requests, trends and drivers, customer bid proposal support, pricing and promotion, and competitor benchmarking.
- Partner with the retail commercial team to lead the financial modeling of potential promotional activities, analyze the impact of new business proposals, and manage overall margins as it relates to product pricing and promotions.
- Drive competitive advantage for McCain through trade management practices, price/mix and developing innovative promotional opportunities.
- Assess Return on Investment (ROI) on trade investments, actively collaborating with the marketing team on key programs
- Develop and monitor trade rates as well as customer fines and settlements
- Partner with marketing teams on financial analysis for new product launches.
- Remain current on market conditions and market pricing on competing product categories and develop recommendations to changes in business or product category pricing strategy.
- Suggest opportunities to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pricing process.
- Improve controls around trade fund management. Enable Sales teams to effectively manage trade budgets and maximize performance behind spending.
- Participate in regional and global project opportunities.
What you'll need to be successful.
- University degree required; Business or Finance specializations preferred
- Accounting designation (CPA)
- A minimum of 3+ years' experience with finance, trade and trade fund management, preferably in the consumer product goods or other food manufacturing companies strongly preferred
- Business acumen: can explain the story behind the numbers and recommend solutions
- Influencing and leadership skills with a results-driven mindset
- Natural collaboration skills
- Effectively able to communicate with many functions including Sales, Sales Strategy, Finance and Marketing teams
- Ability to implement and preserve controls and guardrails around trade spend management
- The candidate must be able to work effectively with many functions, primarily, Sales, Sales Strategy and within Finance
- Responsive and capable of handling business pressure with initiative
- Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills; Must be able to convey information to all levels of the organization in a clear, focused, and concise manner
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
