An overview of this role

We're looking for a strategic and experienced Sr. Manager to lead and scale our Professional Services Program Delivery organization. In this role, you'll be responsible for defining the vision and strategy for project management excellence across the entire Professional Services organization, leading multiple teams of project and program managers, and driving transformational improvements that enable exceptional customer outcomes at scale. You'll partner with senior leadership to shape the future of our delivery capabilities while ensuring consistent, high-quality execution across our global customer portfolio.

About the Role

The Sr. Manager, Professional Services Program Delivery will provide strategic leadership for our Program Delivery organization, overseeing multiple teams and ensuring excellence in project delivery across all customer engagements. This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance operational excellence with long-term organizational growth, while building and developing high-performing teams that deliver exceptional value to our customers.

What You'll Do
  • Define and execute the strategic vision for Professional Services program delivery, establishing frameworks, methodologies, and best practices that scale across the organization and drive continuous improvement
  • Lead and develop multiple teams of project and program managers, including direct management of team leads and managers, while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional growth
  • Oversee the entire portfolio of Professional Services customer projects, ensuring strategic alignment with business objectives, optimal resource utilization, and exceptional delivery outcomes that drive customer success and revenue growth
  • Partner with senior leadership across Professional Services, Sales, Product, and Engineering to align delivery capabilities with business strategy, identify opportunities for service expansion, and drive organizational transformation
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure delivery effectiveness, customer satisfaction, and team performance, using data-driven insights to drive strategic decisions and operational improvements
  • Architect and implement enterprise-level resource management strategies in partnership with PS Operations and technical leadership, optimizing talent deployment, capacity planning, and skill development across the organization
  • Lead strategic risk management initiatives by establishing proactive identification and mitigation frameworks that protect customer relationships, project outcomes, and organizational reputation
  • Drive executive-level communication and stakeholder management, representing Program Delivery in strategic discussions and ensuring transparency across all organizational levels
  • Champion innovation in delivery methodologies, tools, and processes, staying ahead of industry trends and positioning GitLab as a leader in Professional Services delivery
  • Build strategic partnerships with customers and serve as an escalation point for complex delivery challenges, ensuring resolution and continuous improvement
What You'll Bring
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in a leadership position, with at least three years managing managers or leading multiple teams
  • Deep expertise in DevOps, cloud technologies, and software delivery methodologies with proven ability to translate technical concepts into business value
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in the technology services or professional services industry
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent advanced certification (required)
  • Proven track record of building, scaling, and leading high-performing delivery organizations in fast-growth environments
  • Demonstrated experience defining and executing strategic initiatives that drive organizational transformation and measurable business outcomes
  • Executive-level communication and influencing skills with ability to present to C-suite stakeholders
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L, budgets, and resource optimization at scale
  • Experience implementing and scaling project management methodologies, tools, and governance frameworks across large organizations
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and drive results in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of the United States only. This range is intended to reflect the role's base salary rate in locations throughout the US. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, alignment with market data, and geographic location. The base salary range does not include any bonuses, equity, or benefits. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.

United States Salary Range
$145,600$312,000 USD
