PagerDuty is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our diverse, customer-focused team! As a Sr. Network Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and security of our globally distributed network infrastructure. In this role, you will lead large-scale networking initiatives across cloud environments and global offices, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity for a distributed workforce. You will help to support enterprise DNS security and Zero Trust platforms (such as Cloudflare, Zscaler, or Cisco Umbrella), implement advanced security controls, including DDoS mitigation and firewalls, and enforce DNS filtering and access policies. As a senior member of the team, you will provide expert-level incident response and root cause analysis for critical issues, manage PagerDuty alerts as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation, and collaborate closely with IT Operations teams to improve performance, resilience, and enterprise security posture. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will stay ahead of evolving threats, recommend modern tooling, and ensure our network remains robust, scalable, and secure across the globe.
Key Responsibilities- Design & Deployment: Lead the design and implementation of large-scale network solutions across global offices, cloud environments, and remote access endpoints.
- DNS & Zero Trust Security: Support and optimize DNS security and Zero Trust solutions (e.g., Cloudflare, Zscaler, Cisco Umbrella), enforcing access policies and protecting against DNS‑based threats.
- Network Security Controls: Architect and maintain core controls, including DDoS mitigation, firewall policies, DNS filtering, and Zero Trust access management.
- Incident Response: Provide senior-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical network issues, driving swift resolution with minimal impact.
- Operational Readiness: Manage and respond to PagerDuty alerts while participating in a global on-call rotation to maintain 24/7 network reliability.
- Collaboration & Reliability: Partner with IT Operations teams to reinforce network performance, availability, and security through proactive monitoring, automation, and architectural improvements.
- Continuous Innovation: Research evolving threat landscapes and evaluate new network security tools, ensuring the enterprise stays ahead of emerging risks.
- Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering, design, and operations within large-scale, globally distributed environments.
- Certifications: Professional-level network certification (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent).
- Core Networking Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with advanced TCP/IP networking, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), MPLS, and modern network architectures.
- Network Automation: Demonstrated proficiency in network automation and infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar.
- Operating Systems: Familiarity with cross‑platform corporate environments, including macOS, Windows, and other enterprise operating systems.
- Security Tooling: Proven experience with DNS security platforms and Zero Trust solutions (e.g., Cloudflare, Zscaler, Cisco Umbrella).
- Cloud Networking: Hands-on experience designing and managing networking in public cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Security Expertise: Strong background in enterprise network security, including DDoS mitigation, IDS/IPS, DNS security, and Zero Trust architectures.
- SaaS Security Tooling: Deep understanding of modern networking and SaaS-based security platforms (e.g., Zscaler, Cloudflare, Cisco Umbrella) and enterprise firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto).
- Monitoring & Optimization: Expertise with packet capture, analysis, and advanced network monitoring/performance tools.
- Team Leadership: Proven track record of mentoring team members and leading technical initiatives in a globally distributed team.

The base salary range for this position is 98,000 - 135,000 CAD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.
Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
