Location: This is a hybrid role with a minimum in-office requirement of 3 days per week at our Ottawa, ON office located at 40 Hines Rd, Ottawa, ON K2K 2M5, Canada.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. SDET to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products and operations. As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in driving the testing strategy, mentoring junior QA engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions and having the skills and passion for driving operation activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Test Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and develop comprehensive test plans.

  • Test Design: Create and execute test strategies, cases, and scripts to validate software functionality, performance, reliability, and security.

  • Testing Excellence: Perform various types of testing, including functional, regression, integration, and performance, to identify and address defects.

  • Automation: Develop and maintain test automation frameworks, tools, and infrastructure for efficient and effective testing.

  • Defect Management: Identify, document, and track software defects, ensuring their successful resolution.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with development, product management, and customer support teams to ensure timely and high-quality software releases.

  • Operations: Ensure the performance, availability, and reliability of servers, services, and microservices in both Public and Private Cloud environments while adhering to SLAs.

  • Operational Support: Participate in on-call rotations to support and debug customer-reported issues as well as internally created service incidents.

  • Security and Compliance: Maintain a strong focus on security and compliance within the cloud environment.

  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, maintaining a commitment to learning and improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including DevOps practices, testing, and operations.

  • Proficiency in AWS/Azure and expertise in cloud-native architecture.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a team-oriented mindset.

  • In-depth knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java.

  • Experience with test automation tools, frameworks, and methodologies.

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD processes.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

  • Proactive, self-driven attitude, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory):

  • Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) with a focus on SLO/SLIs in a commercial cloud-based service.

  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and compliance adherence within a cloud environment, including PCI, ISO27001, and SOC2.

For applicants in the province of Ontario: Trend Micro Canada is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary for this role is CAD $105,000.00 - $115,000.00. A candidate’s final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors to include, but not limited to relevant work experience, skills, and certifications.
