Position Summary

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Staff Accountant will play a key role in assisting with the day-to-day accounting operations for HUB Financial Centre (HFC) Canada, with a primary focus on the FlexSave program. This individual will be responsible for trust account management, payment processing, deposit reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This position offers real opportunity for career growth and advancement within the organization.

This position is hybrid, reporting to the office 3 days per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the FlexSave program, including trust account oversight, payment processing, and deposit management

  • Perform daily deposit reconciliations for Flex accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies

  • Process manual checks and issue payments in accordance with company procedures

  • Obtain all necessary approvals prior to processing payments

  • Process online and credit card payments accurately and within established deadlines

  • Manage bank online positive pay and oversee void check processing

  • Prepare and maintain journal entries and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and research reconciling items for resolution

  • Support inter-agency activity reconciliations between HUB entities as needed

  • Research and analyze financial data as requested

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in an accounting or finance-related role

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Strong reconciliation experience — critical for this role

  • Pursuing a CPA designation or equivalent accounting credential is preferred (CPA, CGA, CMA)

  • Insurance or financial services industry experience is a plus

Required Skills

  • Strong reconciliation and attention to detail — accuracy is essential in this role

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; advanced skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) strongly preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Adaptable and open to change

  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to take initiative

The expected salary range for this position is$50,000 to $60,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidates skills, experience andworking location, as well as the specific positions business line, scope and level.HUBInternational is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages whichinclude extended health benefits, disability insurance, RRSP matching,paid-time-off benefits, and eligible bonuses, and commissions for some positions.
