Join our growing Design Team

We’re a fast-growing Series A Construction Scheduling Startup that’s transforming one of the world’s largest industries—and we’re on fire. We are shipping products that redefine how General Contractors and teams collaborate to build world-class construction schedules. This is a rare chance to set the design vision at a company scaling fast, with the resources of a funded startup and the energy of a rocket ship.

We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer with a strong focus on mobile app design to help define and deliver Planera’s mobile experience. This is a senior individual contributor role for a designer who can own complex problem spaces, drive high-impact initiatives, and elevate how mobile design shows up as new product experiences.

You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and leadership to translate real-world construction scheduling workflows into intuitive, high-quality mobile experiences used daily in the field. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, sweats interaction details, and still thinks at a systems and product strategy level.

If you’re driven to create elegant, product experiences that make real-world impact—and you want to leave your fingerprints on the future of construction—this is your stage. 🚀

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the end-to-end design of Planera’s mobile app experiences, from discovery and concepting through detailed interaction design and launch.

  • Lead complex, ambiguous problem spaces by framing opportunities, running discovery, and turning fuzzy inputs into clear, actionable design direction.

  • Partner closely with product managers and engineers to shape mobile roadmap priorities, tradeoffs, and execution.

  • Advocate for mobile users—especially field-based workflows—by grounding design decisions in user research, customer feedback, and usage insights.

  • Drive excellence in mobile interaction design, usability, accessibility, and performance-aware UX.

  • Contribute to product strategy by connecting mobile user needs with broader platform goals and business outcomes.

  • Influence and evolve the design system, ensuring mobile patterns, components, and motion are scalable, consistent, and high quality.

  • Facilitate design critiques, working sessions, and cross-functional reviews to align teams and raise the quality bar.

  • Mentor and support other designers through feedback, collaboration, and example—without formal people management responsibilities.

  • Continuously improve design processes to balance speed, quality, and clarity in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of product design experience, with significant ownership of mobile apps (iOS, Android, or cross-platform).

  • A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product ownership, strong interaction design, and thoughtful solutions to complex, real-world problems.

  • Experience operating at a senior-level scope: owning large initiatives, influencing direction, and working independently on multi-quarter efforts.

  • Deep understanding of mobile UX patterns, platform conventions, and designing for constrained, on-the-go environments.

  • Strong systems thinking—able to balance craft, consistency, and scalability across features and surfaces.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence product and engineering partners through clear rationale and storytelling.

  • Comfort working in ambiguity and proactively setting direction rather than waiting for detailed requirements.

  • Experience contributing to or scaling a design system, especially for mobile.

  • Expertise with workflow-heavy, operational, or B2B products (construction, logistics, scheduling, or similar is a plus).

Why Join Us:

  • Impact: Be at the forefront of transforming a $12.1 trillion industry. Make a meaningful impact on how the world builds.

  • Culture: Join a smart, spirited team dedicated to innovation and excellence.

  • Growth: Opportunity for professional growth and career advancement in a fast-paced start-up environment.

  • Benefits: Competitive salary, stock options, benefits package, and a dynamic work environment.
