System Verification and Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking to fill a full-time position in the System Verification and Manufacturing teams in Ottawa.
Prospective candidates require education and industrial experience in optical communications, high-speed electronics and computer engineering to work as part of our System Verification and Manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for development, deployment and support of test systems used in the design and manufacture of advanced optical communications components.
This role requires engineering know-how, hands on experience in day-to-day lab work, and interaction with other technical team members to achieve demanding objectives.
Desirable experience and skills:
- Hands on experience in building, maintaining and debugging complex optical measurement stations with a multitude of different instruments in both R&D and manufacturing lab environments.
- System-level test strategies for high-speed electronics, optical transceivers and related firmware.
- Familiarity with high-speed transmission systems in optical module (e.g. QSFP-DD), CPO and NPO architectures.
- Experience with electrical and optical characterization methodology, using automated test platforms such as Keysight 800G and Viavi MAP300.
- Hands-on experience with lab characterization and RF measurements. Supporting system architecture analysis and testing during development and manufacturing.
- Python-based test automation on Linux platform.
- Familiarity with electrical interfaces such as RS-232, I2C, SPI, as well as ADCs, DACs, power supplies and similar chip level elements of high-speed communications components.
- Familiarity with circuit level schematics (ORCAD tool) and Layout (PCB Allegro).
- Demonstrated ability to investigate and solve test system issues during product development and into volume manufacturing.
