What You'll Do

The Walt Disney Company and Epic Games are collaborating on an all-new games and entertainment universe.

In addition to being a world-class games experience, this new persistent universe will offer a multitude of opportunities for consumers to play, watch, and engage with content, characters, and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar, and more.

Epic Games is looking for a Technical Designer to join our dynamic team. We are a new and growing team at Epic, aiming to build innovative new experiences and technology as part of our collaboration with Disney. Game designers at Epic are a part of a cross-discipline development team that owns the vision and drive to create innovative features and content which expand the Fortnite universe.

In this role, you will

  • Design AI focused features for the Disney universe
  • Craft high quality, player-facing NPC behaviors using behavior trees and visual scripting
  • Create quick prototypes to try out and demonstrate new ideas in game
  • Tightly collaborate with programming while we implement cutting edge technology
  • Cooperate with other designers on our team to define and promote a cohesive vision for AI in our project
  • Use playtest feedback to iterate and improve NPC features
  • Create and maintain clear and concise design documentation

What we're looking for

  • Experience shipping multiple AAA titles as a Designer
  • Experience developing AI for a highly systemic environment
  • Experience creating behavior trees and using visual scripting
  • A creative approach that can surprise and amaze players with new ideas and experiences
  • Talent for empathizing with players and a deep understanding of player motivations
  • Team player with good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience with creating believable non-player characters is a plus
  • Experience with dynamic narrative systems in games is a plus
