As a part of Magnet Forensics, you can expect to make a difference in the world, no matter what role you play. If you think you would be the right person to join our team working towards this goal, we would love to hear from you!

Your Role:
This role reports into the Manager, Global Content Development. The Technical Writer designs, writes, and delivers all technical product documentation for one or more products in the Magnet Forensics portfolio. This position works with cross-functional teams, which include other technical writers, digital content designers, UX designers, product managers, engineers, forensics investigators, and customer-facing teams to deliver clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation and user interface (UI) strings.

What You Will Accomplish:

  • Design and deliver new, complex technical documentation based on user stories, feature requirement documents, specifications, and information from subject matter experts;
  • Maintain the entire product documentation suite for one or more products (for example, administration guides, installation guides, user guides, and release notes) in alignment with regular product releases;
  • Revise documentation to incorporate product updates and product enhancements requested by customers and internal users;
  • Proofread your own documentation and provide peer reviews to others to ensure consistent language and style, as well as the correct application of templates;
  • Partner with the Technical Support and Customer Success Management teams to understand and respond to customer enablement needs;
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to validate the technical accuracy of product documentation.

What We Are Looking For:

  • We’re looking for someone who checks off most, but not all, of the boxes listed in “skills and experiences”.  It’s more important to us to find candidates who can display indicators of success through skills they have developed and experiences they have been a part of, than to find folks who have ‘been there, done that”.  We want to be part of your development journey, and we’ll learn as much from you as you learn from us.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, related program, or relevant experience;
  • 3-7 years of experience in a technical writing position;
  • Ability to use a content management system (for example, Madcap Flare) for authoring and building documentation;
  • Ability to exercise technical documentation best practices, including structured writing, and minimalism;
  • Advanced understanding of grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
  • Strong proficiency in proofreading/editing, writing, and verbal communication;
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail and strong time management skills;
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams in an agile environment;
  • Strong sense of teamwork, personal integrity, and accountability;
  • Strong self-starter attitude with excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to learn quickly and a passion for new technologies;
  • Proficiency with standard defect-tracking and source control software like Jira, GitHub, and Azure DevOps;
  • Experience with HTML and CSS.

The Most Important Thing:

  • We’re looking for candidates that can provide examples of how they have demonstrated Magnet CODE in their previous experiences:
  • CARE – We care about each other and our mission to make a difference in the world.
  • OWN – We are accountable for our results – while never forgetting to act with integrity, empathy, and respect.
  • DEDICATE – We put our heart and soul into meeting the needs of our customers and helping them serve the people they protect.
  • EVOLVE – We are constantly innovating and exploring new ways to work together to make an impact with our work.
