Position Overview:

LawDepot.com is currently expanding and looking to recruit a Technical Writer in Edmonton, Alberta. In this role, you will be responsible for discovering and shaping web products and features that are easy to understand, empowering to use, and a pleasure to interact with for our 24 million plus yearly visitors. A primary responsibility will be to identify products, features, acquisition methods, pricing models and checkout experiences that increase the value of our online forms. Then you will plan, lead and execute projects to deliver that value. This is a full-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week with opportunities in office or hybrid.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative data using internal reports to determine trends, discover unmet user needs, and recommend improvements to our web products

  • Conduct keyword research, competitor analysis, and user testing to find opportunities for product differentiation and inform project plans

  • Collaborate with other team members to validate new products and elements that enhance the user experience

  • Research and propose user acquisition strategies to expand reach and drive growth

  • Identify checkout flow improvements and monetization opportunities to increase revenue

  • Create complex plans that champion new products and impactful features based on research findings

  • Co-ordinate with Research, Design, Legal, and other teams to have new products and features developed according to plan

  • Distill each project’s value, scope, risks and outcomes into actionable insights

  • Communicate clearly and regularly with internal stakeholders using both verbal and written communication

  • Follow usability best practices when proposing new products and features

  • Continually develop skills by researching UX optimization and digital marketing best practices

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Business, Library Science, Law, or other relevant fields

  • Experience planning, leading and executing projects that involve multiple teams or areas

  • Ability to communicate complicated information in a succinct way that users and internal stakeholders can understand

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to navigate setbacks and find workarounds when needed

  • Ability to suggest new ideas and identify high-value products and features

  • Understanding of conversion optimization, consumer psychology, and online marketing

  • Self-driven with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to understand the purpose of various types of technology

  • Knowledge of UX/UI best practices would be an asset

  • Knowledge of business and marketing best practices would be an asset

  • Bilingual in French, German or Spanish would be an asset
