How You Will Contribute:

  • Lead and mentor a team of product and test development engineers dedicated to the creation of test and calibration ATEs for high performance coherent modem and host programs.
  • Oversee the electrical, optical, system, and environmental test strategy for Ciena's coherent optical modems.
  • Work with the various R&D teams at the early stages of product development to establish test and calibration strategy
  • Set and drive strategy for test station architecture.
  • Oversee the test development from initial stages to factory deployment.
  • Drive development and deployment of new test technologies to improve yields, test times, and to reduce cost.
  • Work with platform architecture teams to lead integration of new modem hosts into the test architectures  .
  • Work with contract manufacturers for smooth transition of newly introduced modem-related products.
  • Collaborate with other software and hardware NPI teams to develop systems and tools for production and calibration of coherent modems.
  • Recruit and retain top talent in the electrical, optical and system test space.

 

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field.
  • Leadership experience in a related highly technical field.
  • Prior experience in hardware, optical or software engineering.
  • Experience in prioritizing and managing test and production requests from multiple teams.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in taking technical solutions in the optical, electrical or systems space from concept to reality.
  • Ability to inspire team through positive attitudes and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to travel to contract manufacturer sites abroad when needed

 

Nice to Haves:

  • Familiarity with software test development in Matlab, C#, and python  
  • Familiarity with the technologies used in coherent modems: modulators, receivers, and various optical components
  • Familiarity with electronic, RF, and optical test instruments: VNAs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, source meters, etc.
  • Passion for innovation and self directed research for test and production related trends

The annual pay range for this position is $137,800 - $220,00
 

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
