Job Responsibilities:
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Must be a current Certified Tool and Die Maker
2. Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in industrial/technical environment, preferably in the Automotive Industry.
3. Must have experience creating and working with-in budget, and time constraints
4. Must possess human relations skills and maturity of judgement
5. Must possess time management, leadership, communication, organization and presentation skills Proficient computer experience in relevant software, and applications e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of and experience in CMMS, ERP and payroll software a definite asset
DUTIES:
1. Initiate, implement, and manage the Toolroom program based on best practices in the automotive manufacturing industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
2. Coordinate and assist with planning and implementing plant improvements as required.
3. Direct and support the department personnel in the Toolroom and repair work of the equipment and dies
4. Monitors operation of plant equipment and systems.
5. Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate contractor projects.
6. Ensures that toolmakers are up-to-date on the most current technologies relating to our business
7. Maintains and repairs maintenance toolroom equipment when needed
8. Establishes and maintains a computerized maintenance management system.
9. Tracks, analyses and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
10. Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
11. Maintains documentation on all equipment.
12. Participates in the development of the Company goals to support the annual Business Plan
13. Develops department action plan and leads their team to achieve strategic goals and continuous improvement objectives in alignment with the Company's Vision and Guiding Principles
14. Prepares and supports the budget planning process and takes responsibility to meet the financial targets.
15. Promotes/recommends continuous improvement suggestions including environment, people, processes and equipment/machinery.
16. Assists in the development of procedures and methods which improve quality/productivity/cost to their area of responsibility.
17. Makes decisions in the scope of their responsibilities that are in the best interest of the department, Presstran and Cosma/Magna.
18. The Department Leader reports directly to the General Manager/Assistant General Manager and is responsible to provide communication and reporting of their Department progress/results in achieving divisional goals; and the regular operation of the department.
19. Provide guidance and support to the Department's Leadership Team.
20. Conducts monthly department meetings to communicate Safety, People, Quality, and Production information and to promote involvement in issues affecting employees or their work areas.
21. Participates in manpower requirements planning, overtime scheduling, and assists with capacity planning to meet future objectives.
22. Directs and distributes the work for their area of responsibility.
23. Ensures fairness to direct reports, and encourages and participates in the Open-Door Resolution Process for employee relation issues
24. Performance Management - Observe, understand, teach, coach and mentor direct reports for enhancement of knowledge, skills and succession planning
25. Supports other Leaders in compliance with the Presstran Health and Safety/Ergonomic/Environmental program/procedures by:
26. Ensures employees are trained or certified, as required and participates in training programs as defined by Presstran
27. Effectively builds and fosters high performing teams by ensuring teamwork within the department
28. Conduct and/or ensures that all Area Leaders/ Team Leaders Investigate all non-conformance to Company polices/procedures/rules/regulations and apply the applicable corrective action. i.e. coaching, counselling and feedback documentation, discipline, performance management, etc. 29. Conducts performance reviews informally or formally as required and ensures performance reviews are completed for all employees
30. Department Leaders ensure that leaders follow the HS-16 Accident/Incident Investigation Procedure.
31. Approaches each day and each challenge with a positive attitude.
32. Ensures subcontractors are performing work safely while in their work areas/zones when applicable
33. Works cooperatively with the Health & Wellness group to return STD/WSIB employees to work under the Return-to-Work program and ensures the leaders within their area of responsibility monitor employees to ensure they work within their R-T-W plan.
34. Conducts themselves in a professional manner when receiving or giving feedback/information, whether it is positive or constructive.
35. Supports and models the Presstran operational procedures/policies, Employee Handbook and "How We Work Together", Magna Employee's Charter, Magna Corporate Constitution.
36. Follows and complies with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the Employee Handbook, Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety programs (e.g., TS16949, ISO14001, ISO 45001, IATF).
37. Follows and adheres to the requirements of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 as required.
Perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with Section 27 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments-Duties of Supervisors.
27. (1) A supervisor shall ensure that a worker,
(a) works in the manner and with the protective devices, measures, and procedures required by this Act in the regulations; and
(b) uses or wears the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the worker's employer requires to be used or worn.
(2) Without limiting the duty imposed by subsection (1), a supervisor shall,
(a) advise a worker of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the worker of which the supervisor is aware;
(b) where so prescribed, provide a worker with written instructions as to the measures and procedures to be taken for protection of the worker; and
(c) take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker.
38. Required to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the OHSA. Follows and ensures the Company's procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout their assigned area. Ensures all Area Leaders/Supervisors/Lead hands are adhering to all the above and problem-solving issues that arise in the area of safety and ergonomics.
39. Implements 5S principles and instils pride in their team to keep their work area clean and tidy.
40. Other duties as required.
