Role Description:  

In 2019 BlackRock Canada formed a strategic alliance with RBC Global Asset Management that is focused on growing the adoption of iShares ETFs and RBC ETFs in Canada, across wealth head offices, investment advisors, institutional investors, and individuals.


Over the last 6 years, BlackRock Canada and RBC GAM have partnered under one brand – the RBC iShares Alliance – to distribute ETFs, and to service and support the wealth channel in Canada. RBC iShares represents Canada’s largest and most comprehensive ETF offering, including index, factor, quantitative and active strategies.


We are hiring a Vice President – National Accounts and Institutional ETF Leader. The successful candidate will collaborate and partner with RBC GAM’s National Accounts team to grow the adoption of iShares and RBC ETFs and model portfolios, as well as deliver in-depth product expertise and outstanding service to home office teams across Canada. In addition, this individual will work in close partnership with BlackRock Canada’s Institutional Sales team to identify commercial priorities, provide internal education and insights, and deliver in-depth product expertise to institutional clients.


About this role:

We are seeking a Vice President to drive business development efforts for iShares and RBC ETFs, with a focus on National Accounts and Institutional clients. Based in Toronto, this individual will work in close partnership with both the RBC GAM National Accounts team and the BlackRock Canada Institutional Sales team to accelerate ETF adoption among dealer head offices and institutional investors, respectively. The role will focus on identifying and cultivating business development opportunities by partnering closely with relationship managers to support client engagement, prospect outreach, deliver client presentations, leverage appropriate firm resources, and participate in industry events.


For awareness, the hierarchy of BlackRock leadership is Vice President, Director and Managing Director.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Strong knowledge of the ETF ecosystem in Canada and understanding of client needs across home offices and institutional client segments.
  • Subject matter expert on the iShares ETF suite.
  • Partner with the RBC GAM National Accounts team to ensure alignment around the ETF business strategy and engage directly with home offices.
  • Partner with the BlackRock Canada Institutional sales team to ensure alignment around the ETF business strategy and engage directly with institutional clients.
  • Implement a data-driven approach to identify wealth / institutional ETF sales trends to share with the National Accounts / Institutional Sales teams for greater ETF penetration in each specific client channel.
  • Identify opportunities to develop and execute sales strategies that will maximize market penetration.
  • Grow collaboration with respective client relationship owners.
  • Participate in scheduled client meetings and other engagements to provide a high level of product and capital markets expertise.
  • Provide education to a wide range of investors with varying degrees of ETF knowledge on ETF products and related capital markets information.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 6-8 years total experience, with 3+ years of ETF sales experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong financial services background with knowledge of wealth and institutional investment industry trends.
  • CSC or CFA charterholder required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-first mindset and strong relationship building skills.
  • Local travel is required, and a valid driver’s license is preferred.
For Toronto, Canada Only the salary range for this position is CAD$125,000.00 - CAD$175,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
