Title and Summary
Vice President, New Product Development - Mastercard Foundry
Overview
Mastercard Foundry is the innovation engine of Mastercard and a hub for new product development. We do this by driving product innovation in emerging technologies and interfaces while focusing on developing a clear point of view to enhance existing solutions and unlock new use-cases. We also focus on building revenue-generating ecosystems and flywheels that can scale as standalone solutions across adjacent segments and markets. Examples of focus areas include commercial payments, new payment flows, real-time payments, and data and services.
This is a rare opportunity to define and lead a new data network-setting the rules, standards, and commercial frameworks for how data is exchanged and valued across industries.
This role sits at the intersection of Open Finance and Business & Market Intelligence, with a strong emphasis on shaping platform-level capabilities, including data sharing frameworks, consent infrastructure, identity, and API-driven ecosystems.
The Vice President, New Product Development will lead the identification, design, and delivery of new-to-market products that enable secure, scalable, multi-sided data ecosystems. This includes both near-term commercial opportunities that drive revenue and differentiation, as well as longer-term platform bets that establish Mastercard as a leader in open data networks and financial connectivity.
This role requires operating in high ambiguity, translating business strategy into platform constructs, and leading alignment across internal and external stakeholders.
Role• Lead 0→1 product development from concept through in-market validation and scaling• Drive the definition of platform-level standards (e.g., data models, consent frameworks, identity schemes, API standards) in close partnership with architecture and engineering• Translate business opportunities into scalable platform architectures, leading the product team and working cross-functionally with engineering, architecture, data science, and design teams• Identify and prioritize high-impact use cases across domains (e.g., financial services, lending, insurance, payroll, commercial data)• Engage financial institutions, fintechs, and enterprise partners in co-creation and market validation• Experience designing or contributing to pricing models, revenue share frameworks, or commercial structures for data products or platform services• Maintain a strong, informed perspective on the competitive landscape (e.g., aggregators, open banking platforms) and implications for Mastercard• Own business case development, commercialization strategy, and go-to-market planning• Lead cross-functional delivery across Product, Engineering, CXD, and regional teams; engage and align with stakeholders across business units
All About You• Proven experience in 0→1 product development within complex enterprise environments• Strong experience in open finance/open banking, payments, data platforms, or API ecosystems is preferred• Ability to think beyond features to platforms, protocols, and ecosystem design• Deep understanding of multi-sided marketplace dynamics and data value exchange models• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling executive narratives that drive decisions• Able to assess build vs. buy vs. partner decisions without relying entirely on engineering• Understanding of AI-driven and agentic patterns in data ecosystems is a plus• Operates effectively in high ambiguity and fast-moving environments• Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without authority• Strong experience leading structured discovery, experimentation, and validation• Proven ability to connect ideas, people, and opportunities into scalable solutions• Experience working across global markets and regulatory environments
