Why This Role Is Valuable  

Responsible for providing advisory services to Blackstone Capital Markets team specialized in complex commercial real estate transactions.

How You Add Value

  • Manages pre-closing risk review of commercial real estate transactions, liaising with lenders, attorneys, and brokers on new loan originations working with institutional, investment and government-sponsored lenders
  • Provides financial risk management and insurance requirements based on deal type, geography, and lender requirements
  • Analyzes proposed insurance coverage and related risk mitigation including financial reserves and borrower guarantees, and identifying and communicating insurance coverage gaps to internal team and broker for resolution;
  • Prepares exception waivers and exclusion reporting as appropriate
  • Creates and submits client Final Risk Review deliverables including accurate risk assessment and documentation
  • Liaises with lenders, lender’s consultants, attorneys and brokers pre-close and ensures that proposed insurance coverage is in place at closing
  • Review and comment on loan agreements on all financings to ensure maximum flexibility and compliance with BX’s existing insurance policies
  • Detail oriented transaction manager with the ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at once
  • Liaises with underwriting and credit review teams to explain and mitigate potential risk exposures by proposing customized solutions
  • Delivers complete deal package including certificates of insurance
  • Educates lenders, lender’s consultants in risk management, risk transfer, market issues, and relevant trends
  • Serves as a trusted business advisor on all pertinent issues
  • Responsible for deal flow management and tracking, client status reporting and issue tracking and resolution
  • Complies with agency management system data standards and data integrity (enters and maintains complete and accurate information)
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring To The Role

Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years of insurance experience
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college. MBA or law degree would be beneficial
  • Minimum of 5 years of lending experience
  • Demonstrable and current in-depth knowledge and understanding of the real estate and /or PE investment business
  • Be a resourceful self-starter, routinely taking initiative
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to a variety of audiences
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Team player that can thrive and lead in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving business strategies, depending on market dynamics
  • Adept in navigating and simplifying complex matters of Risk Management
  • Contract review and negotiation experience
  • Experience in a variety of commercial matters (transactions, leases, financings, etc.)
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel, Word, and email applications

  • Professional designation (e.g. CPCU, ARM)

Base Compensation Range:

$210,815.00 To $284,000.00. This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of the Company’s base compensation range for this position. Actual base compensation range may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.

Total Direct Compensation:  This job is also eligible for discretionary bonus and incentive compensation on an annual basis.

Benefits:  The Company provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
