The warehouse assistant will ensure inventory is processed, organized, and stored properly. The person will also package and prepare orders for manufacture and shipment. The ideal candidate is comfortable working on their feet and is ideally experienced in inventory software and databases. The warehouse assistant may also be required to operate heavy machinery, such as a pallet jack or motorized forklift. Must be organized, motivated, and capable of using a computer.
What you'll do
- Unload inventory from delivery trucks.
- Process receipt of incoming inventory to ensure:
- No damage occurred during transit,
- Correct parts are received,
- Correct quantity is received.
- Sort, organize and store inventory in the proper location. This may include packaging, labelling, stacking, and organizing pallets, or large bulk items.
- Report damaged or missing inventory to management.
- Process workorder material kits
- Gather inventory from storage locations.
- Verify accurate counts.
- Deliver required inventory to production area.
- Process finished goods inventory for delivery to customers.
- Package and label as required.
- Process shipping documentation
- Ensure inventory records are accurate and up to date:
- Cycle Counts
- Transactions
- MRB
- Process RMAs (customer returns)
- Wear designated personal safety equipment as required.
- Operate heavy machinery such as pallet jacks, or forklifts.
- Ensure workspace is free of debris and remove safety hazards from aisles.
- Work as an active team member to complete team goals.
- Other related duties as assigned by the manager.
What you'll need to get the job done
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, etc. Possibly up to 50Lbs
- Numeracy and Analytical skills (counting and recording numbers)
- Good organizational skills
- Capable of using a computer (email, spreadsheets, inventory database)
- Able to communicate well in English (verbal and written)
- Be familiar with warehouse and manufacturing environments
- Key Skills (nice to have): Forklift experience and training
What will make us REALLY love you
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Certification by the province to operate heavy machinery as needed.
- Physically able to stand, sit, move, squat, walk, and climb during the shift.
- May need to be physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds or more.
- Good verbal and written communication skills (English).
- Must be capable of using a computer to manage inventory records. This includes transactions to adjust on hand inventory, receive goods, issue, and ship.
- Ability to write and respond to emails/queries from other departments.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.
- Numeracy and Analytical skills.
- Must follow all health and safety protocols as dictated by the company and government agencies.
