Hybrid:
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing Delta Township ASSY 3 days and Lansing Grand River ASSY 2 days, at a minimum or other frequency dictated by the business on a full-time basis.
The Role:
As a 3P&VAA Manager, you'll be responsible as the single point contact/liaison to coordinate all activities between the ASSY plant, 3P, VAA, LLP, and GPSC. Key Deliverables will be to represent the ASSY plant on new contract negotiations or modifications with development and execution of all phases of a Lean Material System to create the most efficient, leanest designs within the entire Lansing Region. This position is responsible for executing deliverables in support of the supply chain's organization's business objectives. This individual will work with all levels of a cross functional team to drive CIP, support steady state improvements, and drive established best practices in the Lansing Region.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Support material flow and material handling processes and measure plant compliance
- Support Internal Benchmarks for material flow and material handling processes.
- Institutionalize best practices and measure plant and regional compliance.
- Resolve contractual and service problems as required.
- Lead and assist in the development of new initiatives, scope of work, and business cases which impact the 3P & VAA with GPSC, Industrial Engineering, and other departments.
- Develop and track Master Dot milestones and Deliverables.
- Support the Manufacturing Launch team at the plant and Program Team
- Develop and apply Lean Material Strategies (LMS) to design standards.
- Drive & execute common standards, processes, and lean designs applicable to material flow.
- Support BIQ objectives
- Integrate Lean Manufacturing and GM-Manufacturing System (GMS) principles into 3P&VAA processes.
- Provide updates to GPSC staff, plant staff and Program Team as required.
- Support PFMEA process
- Drive problem solving issues for throughput and quality issues.
- Analyze existing operations and propose continuous improvements (CI)
- Optimize floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment.
- Monitor adherence to recommended safety procedures and ergonomic guidelines.
- Develop, track, and implement budget allocation.
- Facilities design, layout, and processes that reduce cost/ achieve operational efficiencies.
- Provide on-site support for execution and readiness activities related to steady state and major launches.
- Drive implementation of best practices and standardized performance metrics across all 3P&VAA operations.
- Secure funding for process equipment related to model change.
- Monitor all invoices, correct with disbursements and purchasing.
- Analyze and validates 3P&VAA supplier invoices and cost recovery claims.
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in Warehousing, Lean Manufacturing and / or Supply Chain operation
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Analytical ability where problems are somewhat complex
- Knowledge of material department operation, manufacturing processes, and departmental relationships
- Planning and organizational abilities
- Ability to understand and assess complex supply chain issues and lead teams in a cross functional environment to successfully resolve issues minimizing impacts to vehicle production.
- Ability to be flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution.
- Ability to problem tackle complete issues and implement new and innovative strategies.
- Deep understanding of Supply Chain functions
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelors Degree (Supply Chain or Industrial Engineering)
- Knowledge of EPS/PPS (pull systems)
- Knowledge of MGO-A, VM2000/VBIMS (ERP systems inventory management)
- Experience working in Value Added Assembly processes
- Experience working in an automotive/manufacturing environment servicing an OEM.
