THE ROLE

At Localcoin, our Compliance team ensures we meet all regulatory obligations as a registered Money Service Business in Canada and the other countries where we operate — protecting our users, reducing risk, and supporting our mission.

As a Compliance Data Analyst, you’ll leverage data to monitor customer transactions, identify trends, and detect potential risks. You’ll support the Chief Compliance Officer by preparing reports for regulators, maintaining compliance datasets, and ensuring our Compliance Policies are backed by accurate, timely insights.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and auditors to deliver data-driven solutions that keep operations running smoothly and compliant with evolving regulations. Your ability to extract, analyze, and visualize complex data will help shape key compliance strategies across the business.

This position will be based out of our office in Etobicoke, ON, and will have a hybrid work schedule of 2 days in office per week. 


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING 

  • Reduce the Compliance Department’s reliance on the Product and Development teams by developing proficiency in the Compliance software tools we use, and acting as our go-to resource for first-line technical questions and requests.
  • Acting as a primary interface between the Compliance team and Product/Development teams, bridging the gap between Compliance requirements and complex technical work requests.
  • Work closely with product teams to define compliance-driven product specifications.
  • Build, run, and analyze SQL and other reports on compliance-related data.
  • Oversee and support compliance activities tied to global expansion initiatives, including launches in new jurisdictions.
  • Review transaction monitoring alerts and design new scenarios to detect money laundering, terrorist financing, and fraud.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliance systems and processes are properly implemented and maintained.

NICE TO HAVES

  • Prior experience in a global or multinational organization.
  • Exposure to cryptocurrency compliance environments.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks (AML) and obligations beyond single functions like KYC or transaction monitoring.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 

  • Experience: 0-3 years of experience in data analysis.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Snowflake, Python, Jira, API integrations, and ability to collaborate with product/engineering teams.
  • Communication: Fluent English (written and spoken) with strong analytical reporting skills, you will have the ability to analyze and not merely present raw data findings.
