Role Overview
This is a Senior Data Architect engagement for the client Justice Information Management System (JIMS) 3.0 initiative. The project focuses on consolidating multiple legacy court-reporting data marts into a centralized Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) with modern reporting and analytics capabilities.
The architect will lead data architecture, data modeling, ETL design, data warehouse implementation, data governance, reporting enablement, and enterprise architecture alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Modeling
- Review existing JIMS, CFO, CCM, Courtroom Utilization, Courtroom Activity, and Case Adjournment data marts.
- Perform detailed data profiling and source system analysis.
- Design Enterprise Data Warehouse architecture.
- Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Define Facts and Dimensions for star/snowflake schemas.
- Develop data mapping specifications.
- Update JOIN source system data models.
- Develop transition plans from current to future-state architecture.
Data Warehouse Development
- Design and implement SQL-based data warehouse solutions.
- Stage and transform source data.
- Develop ETL processes.
- Validate data quality and integrity.
- Support data mart enhancements and fixes.
Reporting & Analytics
- Develop Power BI reports for testing and validation.
- Support enterprise reporting architecture.
- Improve reporting performance and governance.
- Enable historical data preservation and self-service reporting.
Enterprise Architecture
- Define data architecture standards, principles, and governance.
- Conduct architecture reviews.
- Align solutions with Government of Alberta Enterprise Architecture (GAEA).
- Promote data quality and data-sharing practices.
- Provide architectural guidance across projects.
Leadership
- Lead design sessions and architecture reviews.
- Present recommendations and solution options.
- Mentor project teams.
- Participate in project planning and estimation activities.
