Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer - Database to focus on the reliability, availability, and performance of our database infrastructure, with particular emphasis on NoSQL and graph databases. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and optimizing our cloud database systems to meet the needs of our Trulioo customer base. We are a 24/7 operation that requires on-call coverage to serve any technical incidents that may arise.
What you’ll be doing:
- Collaborate with our infrastructure and engineering teams to implement best practices for database management.
- Support and debug database production issues across services and levels of the stack.
- Manage and optimize document and graph databases (such as AWS DocumentDB, Mongo, Neptune, Neo4j, or others) for performance, scalability, and high availability.
- Ensure databases are configured for high availability (HA), replication, and disaster recovery (DR).
- Implement automated backup and restore strategies, and ensure minimal downtime in case of failures.
- Manage monitoring and alerting systems for all data storage backends.
- Automate database-related processes such as scaling, backups, migrations, and performance tuning to reduce manual intervention and ensure operational efficiency.
You have:
- 3+ years of database engineering or datastore reliability engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience managing and optimizing relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, Redis).
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) to automate provisioning and configuration of database resources in the cloud.
- Proficiency with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Go) to streamline database management tasks.
Nice to have:
- Experience managing AWS-native databases like RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, or Redshift.
- Experience with multi-region database configurations and data replication strategies for low-latency access across geographies.
- Familiarity with data analytics or ETL pipelines that interface with databases for data processing and analytics.
- Experience with graph databases like Neo4j, ArangoDb, and Amazon Neptune.
