Job Responsibilities:
POSITION OVERVIEW
Magna is seeking an experienced and results-driven Deployment Engineering Manager to lead the deployment of its autonomous mobile robotics (AMR) solution within the New Mobility group. This individual will be responsible for managing the execution of site deployments, leading a team of deployment engineers, and ensuring successful implementation and sustained performance of our AMR solutions across multiple customer sites.
This leadership role will focus on planning, coordinating, and overseeing deployment activities, while maintaining alignment with internal stakeholders including Solution Engineering, Product, Operations, and Customer Support. The manager will play a critical role in removing roadblocks, resolving technical and logistical issues, and driving accountability across projects to ensure timelines, quality, and customer satisfaction goals are met.
The ideal candidate is both technically proficient and an exceptional communicator who thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments. They will be expected to lead by example-being hands-on when needed, while also providing strategic oversight, guidance, and mentorship to the broader deployment team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead a team of Deployment Engineers responsible for executing and supporting AMR installations across North America and potentially Europe.

  • Own the deployment process end-to-end: from site readiness assessments to post-go-live monitoring, ensuring successful transitions to customer operations or support.

  • Drive project planning, coordination, and execution with a focus on meeting deployment milestones and exceeding customer expectations.

  • Act as the primary point of escalation for deployment-related challenges, driving technical issue resolution, and ensuring alignment with product and operations teams.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Solution Engineering, Product Management, and Software/Hardware teams to provide customer feedback and influence product roadmaps to focus on fast, efficient deployments.

  • Develop and standardize training documentation, troubleshooting playbooks, site hand-over checklists, and field deployment best practices.

  • Provide regular status reporting to leadership on project timelines, risks, and team performance.

  • Support talent development by mentoring and coaching team members and leading performance management processes.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical field.

  • 5+ years of experience in robotics, industrial automation, or deployment engineering roles, including at least 2 years in a team leadership or project management capacity.

  • Proven track record of managing customer-facing technical deployments across multiple locations.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to a variety of audiences including executive stakeholders and frontline operators.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities, especially in ambiguous or high-pressure situations.

  • Proficiency in technical documentation, data reporting, and project planning tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet).

  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Awareness, Unity, Empowerment:
At Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success. That's why we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We hire on the basis of experience and qualifications, and in consideration of job requirements, regardless of, in particular, color, ancestry, religion, gender, origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability or gender identity.
